Any progress on baby names for this bambino? What's your naming style? Do you draw inspiration from family names?
Will you be sharing the names before baby arrives, or does it go with the birth day announcement?
DH and I are leaning towards something very Irish Celtic for either the boy or girl names. DH is French Canadian but his family historically comes from the north part of Celtic France. He is also a Celtic Recon Pagan. My family is Irish mostly with a smattering of English/Swiss/Mennonite.
I really want the name Branwen (or spelled Bronwyn) for a girl but DH doesn't like the mythical implications of the name (I linked the wiki article). I'm still fighting for it. DH doesn't want to consider girl names though (he's stubborn).
For boy names we have a TON and have not narrowed it down at all....our last name is french and hard to pronounce so we don't want to give the child too many hard names!!
Well with #1 we had picked out names, EllissaMay Joscelyn, backup girl name Lillianna Rebecca Marie, and boy names Rian David Allen or William Joseph Jr. well, it was a girl and we were set on Ellie, so she's Ellie.
with #2 we had a short list, Jr for a boy, or Rian David Allen, and for a girl we had a loose list, Abigail, Charlee and i took a baby name book to the hospital.
well, Bubba is William Joseph Jr. we joked it wouldhave to be Jr if he was born on daddy's birthday AND HE WAS.
and when i was about 6 weeks pregnant with this one i txted hubby one night Michaela and he said he liked it. so i said michaela Cathryn.... and thats our plan for a girl name. And for a boy i'm kinda set on Michaelangelo David... and he said sure. seriously.... who names their son Michaelangelo......... Well... maybe me LOL. Mikey either way i have a few ideas if neither of those suit , my grandmother died last january and i would like to take the letters in her name and make an anagram for this one if its a girl, but i'm having trouble making things up.
MYRA VIEN if anybody wants to play I'd appreciate ideas! but i think we're set. however i refuse to share these ideas with people in real life because i dont want to hear their f*ing opinion, since its my kid, and i HATE the flak i got for Ellie's name and now everyone thinks is freaking AWESOME.... because it is of course... LOL....its Melissa in piglatin if you didnt notice.
Terrible namer. Don't ever have names in advance. In, fact, I was ready to go home from hospital with #2 and still didn't have a name!!! We will probably go with something kind of he-she since our others are, but I don't have a list even!!!
Discussing names for the first two was such a pain. DH would say "eh" to anything I suggested, didn't have any suggestions of his own, and would only "eh" a couple names at a time before he tuned me out.
This time, we didn't say a word about it until after the big u/s. That night, HE brought it up, and said he still liked a name we had talked about almost 7 years ago, before TTC #1. Wait, what? Did he just initiate the conversation, and did we just decide on a name in three minutes?
I still have another name on my short list, but we'll see how it shakes out in the end.
I tend to like more traditional names, sometimes Biblically based. Basically if you can picture an 80 year old with the name, I probably like it.
I'd love to pass on a family name, but honestly, neither of us really like the names of our parents/grandparents enough to pass them on.
i have oodles of cool family names to pass on, but i can't cram them all into one kid LOL, we'll have to have like 4 more to use up them all. DH's dad is Daniel Dean, grandpa was David, great granpa was Clair, my dad's middle name is wayne, my mom really wants me to use that one,
from my mom's side of the family Alexandria, Mary, Cathryn, Allen..... dad's side, Asa and Alta...... yeah, its a never ending idea list that i wish i could use all of!
