Spotting today

It was only when I wiped.. Not enough to need a pad. It isn't continuous (i keep checking..) Was just there that one time (about an hour ago). It wasn't bright red. Just very wet/mucus like (sorry) with browns/pinks mixed in.

This made me very upset and freaked out. This is my 4th baby and I have never ever spotted. So very new to me and I'm just not used to the idea that this could be nothing. I called the doctor and they said they don't need to see me unless something changes..like cramping or back ache or bright red.
And they said to also remember I had a Transvaginal ultrasound yesterday that could have caused some irritation. (24 hours later though?.. Don't know if that adds up) I have also never spotted after one of those.. Or after intercourse.

So there you have it. You guys talk me off the ledge. My nerves are shot!

I had a friend who spotted her whole pregnancy and has a happy healthy little one. I'm with ya on the freaking out train (this pregnancy is much more like my miscarriage than my first two - as far as I remember, or maybe just more aware)... I don't see my doc til the 12th...

But hugs and sticky dust to you. I now its nerve wracking but it can be "normal"

Easier said than done, but don't freak out!

I've had a pgcy with no spotting, I've had spotting end up being nothing, and I've had spotting end up being the beginning of something bad, and I 100% understand how nervewracking it can be!

During my pgcy with my now-toddler, I had an u/s at 7+ weeks, and while everything looked good, my doctor said, hey btw, there's a little pocket of blood right there. Your body may reabsorb it, or you may have spotting. Don't freak out if it's the latter. A day or two later, I did indeed spot, but all was well.

Anyway, maybe that's what is happening with you?

Your doc was right on, though- if it turns bright red, becomes more like a flow than a spot, or there is cramping, give them a call and ask to be seen ASAP!

Thanks girls.

Update.. It happened at three different occasions today. At about 230, 430, and 630 pm. Just when I wiped. And it hw last two times were more red than brown. But it's hard to explain. Not like period blood.. It's mixed with cervical mucus so it's muted and textured different. I hope that's a good thing. I don't know. It's 10:50 here now and that means 4 hours since it last happened. Hoping no more!!!

Have you done anything unusual? I know you mentioned the trans vag us, but like a yoga class you don't usually do or sex or anything? That can cause it too.

*hugs* I hope it's nothing! It's probably from the ultrasound, just irritated the cervix or something. Here's hoping it's done and no more spotting!

Sex Monday night.. Sono Tuesday afternoon.. Bleeding started Wednesday afternoon. Not sure what the cause is. I woke up this morning and its still there : (. Consistency the same (not enough to need a pad) just when wiping. But it is red not brown. Should I insist I be checked out today? I don't know if I can handle sitting around all day worrying.

I would call the doc and see if they can see you. It wouldn't hurt.

Not good. Trying to stay positive. The blood is there everytime I wipe. It hasn't lessened. It also hasn't increased to the point of needing a pad either. Also no cramping. It's hard to know what to think. I have googled myself silly and all I can come up with is: a ton of women who say they bled like crazy and went on to have babies.. And then a ton of people that it ended badly. It seems it could go either way. The thing I'm hopeful about is the fact that just Tuesday we had a healthy looking bean with a healthy heartbeat. So I don't know. I'm going in today for a scan and exam. I'm dreading it. I'm just sick over this. The blood is more than spotting.. Enough to cover the toilet paper when wiping but not enough to need a pad like I said. It also varies from bright red to dark red. I have never spotted with my other babies so this is all new. I just don't know what to think.

*hugs* I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this! I will be sending good thoughts to you and I hope your appointment goes well. I do know tons of women who had lots of bleeding and everything was fine. I hope it's just a subchorionic hemorrhage which is fairly benign.

I was wondering about that.. Do you think they would have seen one on Tuesday during the sono? Or is that something that can be missed?

I think usually they can see it on the sono, but only if they know to look for it. If you didn't have bleeding then, they may not have looked.

The description of bleeding from people online who have this sounds a lot like the way I'm bleeding. (Texture/consistency/color)

Hope the u/s today shows that all is well with Bean and that they can give you a good explanation for why you are spotting!

I'm wondering if it could have been twins?

The sono in Tuesday only showed one.. Would they have been able to see that?

Not sure if they would have seen it... I know more pregnancies start out as twins than end as twins (and most don't have a clue).

No longer a heartbeat. Sometime between Tuesday night and now, we lost our baby. Now it's just waiting for my body to take over. I'm numb. Can't believe this is happening to me.

:lurk: I am so sorry for your loss. I know that the boards here are really great and there are a lot of women who have experienced losses and it is nice to have someone to talk to. I am one of those women who have experienced a loss. I know it is very difficult. I'm so sorry. Support groups have been really helpful for me.

Hang in there hon
