    Default Told my boss

I finally got the courage to tell my boss. Not because she's mean or anything (I really like her), it's just that I'm so horrible at talking about anything 1 on 1 or personal. I tend to get all flustered and nervous.

She's happy for me as she knew about our fertility struggles (I had to request some schedule modifications in the past for treatments).

I'm having a real hard time hiding the bit of a belly I have so I feel better that she knows now, so if anyone asks at least I don't have to worry about her hearing rumors....

    m/c ment

With Robbie I was 11 weeks pregnant when I started my job and there was really no hiding it. With Bailey I had to tell at 5 weeks due to a m/c scare and then the m/c at 12 weeks. I was having to wear some maternity clothes with Bailey by 6 weeks and I think they would have guessed anyway, I had horrible m/s and was constantly running to the bathroom. At that job I worked with 90% women so some figured it out, I outed myself to everyone at work at 6 weeks as I was tired of the looks/questions.

i got fired once because i had terrible morning sickness but didnt want to tell my boss until my first appointment, but don't worry, she called me back and begged me to come back 8 weeks later with a raise

i'm 13 weeks, i am wearing mostly maternity pants because ALL except one pair of jeans and one pair of shorts were VERY SNUG pre-pregnancy and icouldnt even think of zipping them. so i just got maternity capris instead of plain ones. but i work at a daycare and only ONE parent knows as far as i know, and she's a friend of hubby's on facebook. all my coworkers know but i wouldnot consider myself "showing" yet.

    Glad it went well!

Not sure when I'll tell my bosses.

I got outed last time at work (passed out in a patient's room at 13w, doh!) before I had a chance to tell anyone, and I felt bad that I hadn't given my bosses a heads up about it first. This time I'd like to be a better employee and let them know before the rumors start flying!

My thing now is when to tell others at work. I'm not really close with anyone at work. One person knows and that's it (other than my boss).

I'm on two weeks vacation starting Friday. That means I come back when I'm 14 1/2 weeks. I'll probably be showing more then and won't be able to hide it.

Assuming everything goes well in my U/S next Monday, I'll probably say something on Facebook next week. I do have a few co-workers on FB so at least they will know, and maybe the word will spread a little so that when I come back at least some people will know??

I guess that's the problem with working in a male dominated workplace. There are NO girls here, except my boss.... girls would question the belly, wonder, and ask. Men don't really care and it's not like I will get a "I'm so happy for you" from any of my male friends here.

Oh no! That was my worry as well. What if some people started asking? I wouldn't be able to lie. Then if my boss found out from others I would feel bad....

I've been pretty vague with answers I give to questions from coworkers. No one has asked me point blank, but a couple have asked if we plan to have more, and when. I say "Probably" to if, and "Probably next year sometime" to when (because I suppose there is a slight possibility of delivering in 2013..).

I totally didn't realize when I scheduled my vacation that my work from home shift (it's 4PM - 12AM so we can work from home to make it easy for transportation, etc) is right after my 2 weeks off. Which means I will be gone the next 3 weeks starting tomorrow. I suspect when I come back I will have a bump I won't be able to hide as I will be close to 16 weeks....
