So af arrived today full force. It was oh so much fun because we were out of town for a full day of running around shops for certain things. The last thing you want to be doing when you are on cd 1 though

I'm used to it now. Today is the day for my appointment, I hope I don't get mucked around by the doctor

Been to my appointment, as I guessed not much help. He looked at my charts and commented they were so perfect they almost looked made up. He also said with the chemical pregnancies they really shouldn't have shown up as positives tests at that point and seemed to fob them off a little. He has ordered sperm testing for hubby so I have to call tomorrow to see when he can do that, but it will probably be his day off next week. He would not order anything for me saying he couldn't and could only refer me to the fertility clinic, which he didn't do either. He wants me to have a pap smear, so yay I get to pay for another appointment to get that done, I think I may wait until we go back for hubby's results to save on money. After we get hubby's results back we will proceed, which will mean me having to travel to the fertility clinic. The doctor wouldn't even order blood tests for anything including progesterone which I asked about.

Well this just annoys the heck out of me! I'm so sorry.

I'm not sure how insurance is in Australia? Private or public or what. Can you choose a different dr? Or go to the fertility clinic yourself?

Most Ob's just kind of brush off chem preg as almost figments of imagination in our flimsy female minds, in my experience. When you go in to the pap smear, can't you tell him you WANT that referral to the fertility clinic?

Why would he have hubby to do a sperm analysis at this point? He's obviously got some going, since you've been pregnant. I would wonder more about your progesterone levels and your lining with such early losses.

And to say it looks like you made up your charts??! I really don't like this guy. Ugh. I'm sorry you have to go to him.

The comment about my charts was a compliment to them, it was basically saying they are so perfect and textbook charts. Fertility will have to go through private, I have private health cover so it will be a little cheaper but still a lot of money, and it obviously doesn't cover the petrol costs for travel. I live in a small town and many gps have their books closed to new patients, I know one other surgery that doesn't, but I wouldn't take my dog there, I had to take DS in an emergency type situation once and they were the only place open and I was not impressed with them at all.
Thats why I asked about progesterone, but he won't got there and said the fertility clinic would need to look at that. I have to have a referreal to go there I believe because they are specialists.

Ahh... ok. Well it's good you have good charts! I would definitely ask for the referral. I hope they can get the testing you need! Good luck honey.

As much of a pain it is to have to go somewhere else - he is probably doing you a favour. I have learnt over the last 6+ years that GPs and OBs are good at what they know - GPs - a little about everything to deal with common issues, OBs - know what to do with a pregnant woman and helping ensure baby arrives safely. Neither one has any more knowledge- and probably less - then we do ourselves. (in the same way that an RE knows about helping people get pregnant, they have no clue what to do with you after the pregnancy is running smoothly, babies are not their forte
This is why I am always wary whenever I read about someone's OB giving them Clomid. (They don't monitor you while on it, just give you the drug and take a "let's see what happens" approach. Not necessarily a bad thing, if you have a clearly defined issue)

The right RE knows what tests to do, and what the results truly mean in relation to your fertility, and the best use of your time is to wait to see this type of doctor (as much as the waiting sucks!).

Wendy- well, it's good news that he thinks your charts good look. I too wonder why the Dr. is checking sperm count? Weird. I would call and tell them you want a referral to the fertility clinic! What a lamer! Yuck on Pap-smears. I hate those! I hope you get it all sorted out soon!
