    Default Weight

Is anyone gaining already? With my first two I lost weight in the first trimester. With the last pregnancy (which was a blighted ovum/miscarriage I gained a few BUT I was diagnosed with hypothyroid and started meds between baby 2 and e miscarriage so I don't know if that changes things... I also dropped from a size 24 to a 16/18. I've gained a few pounds this time (after losing a few) and I'm trying not to freak out about this being another blighted ovum.

So far no. Just bloated but my weight seems to be the same.

YES!! I have, unfortunately!!! I've gained about 8 lbs but a lot of that is a result of having to eat when bloodsugar goes low as I'm trying to learn to regulate how much insulin to take now with the new changes that come with pregnancy. And I'm already overweight to begin with, so this is not helping!!!

I hadn't weighed myself in a few months, but I've been solidly at 175-178 for about a year now. I checked and I was 181 this morning. But with the hormones and meds from the fertility treatment, I think I gained a bit with that during the cycle before I even got pregnant. And being on the progesterone doesn't help as it makes me super hungry. And I used to be low carb and now I'm back to eating crackers and bread and things which I'm sure isn't helping.

Ultimately, I do not want to gain more than 20lbs. Going over the 200lb mark would make me scared. But then my sister just told me she gained 60lbs with each kid she had so now I'm super worried!

I guess I'm just worried because its different from the first two (healthy kids) and more like the last miscarriage. I won't be in to see my doc til after the tenth. It's not like they can do anything but I don't like not knowing, there's a lot more fear than before.

Eta: lost a little (about half a pound) today so I'm hoping the gain was just bad diet/too much salt... Anyone know (since I don't see my doc for almost 2 weeks) how many extra calories you should eat for pregnancy?

Hmmm...not sure how many extra calories. I just googled it and they said that no extras are needed in the first, 300 extra in the second, and 450 extra in the third.

Thanks! I was wondering if I might have been eating too little.

i gained 30 with my daughter and hovered just under 200lbs, then 35 with my son to top out at 212.... i didnt' like how i felt at the end, not sure if it was just 2nd pregnancy (hips hurt, had swelling that i never experienced with #1) but his birth was pretty stinkin easy.... so i'd rather deal with the extra weight for an easy birth.

eat healthy, focus on the nutrients you NEED first and other foods second (if you're not puking up EVERYTHING...) and try to stay active. and try not to worry about the numbers....

Oh this is pregnancy 4 for me... The first two I lost weight in the first tri (I started in the 260 range with both) and I was an undiagnosed hypothyroid issue... The third pregnancy I gained a little (I was on thyroid meds by then and 3 dress sizes smaller)... But that one was a blighted ovum /miscarriage.... This one is more similar to the third so I'm panicking a little that its another blighted ovum... But maybe its just the different body type.

I realized I hadn't changed my fitness ap (mostly used to monitor sodium and a few other things) and was thinking maybe I wasn't eating enough so I was holding calories... Changed my settings and decreased my sodium and lost about half a pound so I'm thinking the gain was diet (as in food not restrictive) related and not necessarily another miscarriage.
