Thread: Help!

As per our usual arrangement EJ was a terror this morning. So while he was flipping out in the car on the way to daycare he pulled the chest lock down to his waste and pulled his arms out of the straps and was trying to climb out of his carseat. I had to pull over twice on the way to work to restrap him in. It's not too loose when it's up correctly, so I don't think it's a matter of tightening the straps. Does anybody know of a way I can lock the chest lock in place so he can't mess with that? I swear I'm terrified of Dalton's terrible twos while I'm dealing with Everetts!

I can only sympathize with you - Savannah actually unsnaps her seat but she doesn't usually flip out in the car - everywhere else though, followed by her devious little laugh!!

No advice either just sympathy! Terrible twos are NOT fun.

Liams always been really good in his car seat and we dont have a chest strap on our carseat...

Altho Im very interested in any imput from anyone, as I can see Charlies going to be my hard one, he already figths his carseat sometimes...I have to use hands, knees, bb's whatever I can to hold him in there to buckle him in when he decides to kick off...

what about putting a safety pin under each side of the chest clip, so that it can't be moved over it or sewing a little stitch to keep the chest clip in place?

Could he earn stickers for sitting nicely in his car seat? I know the stickers have worked for you before. OR what if he chooses one toy each morning to bring along in the car and play with on the drive to daycare????

Good ideas Megan....I guess the fact that I dont have daycare runs as well, could be another reason I dont have carseat issues...Hes not often in the car...Spose it would become a drag if you had to do it every day

Megan - we developed the sticker system because of the car meltdowns. Once he's in meltdown mode it doesn't matter whether he's getting a sticker or not. He just yells "I am being good, I not crying, there's no tears, waaaaah, I want a sticker, waaaa, I'm not being mean!" It's comical if it wasn't so bad!

I may look to see if I can put a stitch in them to keep them from moving. Daddy had him today so I didn't have to do anything today. . .lol.

This might sound silly but what if, when he's in his seat but prior to leaving, you tell him in a firm, matter of fact voice WHY it is so important for him to leave his straps on? I know that when Lexi was obsessed with the oven I took her by the oven and just said "Lexi, the oven gets very hot and it can hurt you very badly so you need to leave it alone"
