YES.. it seems everything is a battle with Joshua... From getting dressed to eating to going to bed.
I'll be honest...I have a little defiance but haven't had many all out tantrums. If there is one it's because I don't give her what she wants. Good luck!
We have defiance and the tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants. Depending on the situation I either calmly talk to him, put him in his room or ignore him.
I think the threes are hard, but also I see you have a new little bundle at home that may be causing some of the angst. We definately have regular 3 year old issues and the new baby jealousy 3 year old issues too.
Yes!
This last week especially. DS is me happy-go-lucky kid...until lately. Many things are a fight but then, like a light switch, he goes back to happy self. I don't give in but he certainly is stubborn when he wants to.
Example. Two days ago he pulled a little flag out of my gram's flower pot and threw it on the ground b/c he was mad at me for something else. He REFUSED to pick it up for 2-3 minutes. Once he put it back in place, total battle every step of the way, I dragged him inside to sit in time out. He calmed down after a few minutes so I approached him and asked for an "I'm sorry" he refused. :) After 3-4 attempts over a 5-ish minute time span he finally said he was sorry. Grandma was shocked to see his behavior as it definitely was out of his norm.
Our schedule has been thrown out the window these last few weeks as we are deep in the midst of running our pumpkin patch. I'll be happy once November gets here and our schedule can become more predictable again. :) Hopefully his mood swings will stabilize then.
Yes, the tantrums! We are just starting to get some doozies. One of the big ones is when I tell him it is time to be done playing on the computer (the child is obsessed with starfall) So we have began using timers--when the timer beeps you finish the game you are on (I'm not THAT cruel to stop him in the middle) and then it is off and if he throws a fit, he can't play the next day. Which has happened a few times, so he knows i'm serious. The last few times have been better.
But there are tantrums over other things as well--especially on these refuse to nap days. Ugh.
Oh yep, you are right- there is definitely that too ;) He had the tantrums going before the baby was born though and they've progressively become worse. I know he'll grow out of them and thank goodness, he IS cute as a bug! (The week Flynn, our newest, was born- Logan was HORRIBLE. My life felt like an episode from a sitcom- it was that bad! You had to laugh or you'd cry!)
