    Default ~~~Daily Tues. Sept. 18~~~

Greetings all. Thought I would start one of these for the first time in, like, years!!

I hope all the kids and moms who have been feeling ill are doing better today. Happy New Year Sam!

Gray and rainy here today, good day to stay in. I am just working on some work projects. It's a slow week because my colleagues in Israel are all off for a few days, so I am getting stuff done on things I've had to back-burner. It's good to catch up.

Kid-wise we are preparing for Ben's first big social studies project (a relief map of the state) and trying to help Evan overcome his anxiety about his first field trip tomorrow. He's going to an apple orchard and is anxious because we won't be able to go with him. I think it is a little early to send kindergartners on a big field trip without parents, but maybe I'm hypersensitive?

This will be a slow couple of weeks for you. Yom Kippur is coming up next week too. I know how you feel about kids going on trips. Actually everything they do without me makes me feel like it's too soon but in the end I am always always wrong. I am always SAYING it's fine but FEELING anxious. Sophia is going overnight to New York in June with her class. I am dying but I signed the form! Just gotta jump in sometimes and have faith.

Just working. I am also waiting on the furniture repair guy to come and replace the wood on my ottoman and the chimney guy to come for a cleaning. Not a cleaning for him. A cleaning for the chimney. Then a big storm rolls in with 50MPH winds and downpours. FUn stuff but at least we don't have to go anywhere. I already did my walk with kids and dogs so I am good.

Christa, sorry Evan is worried about the trip. Our K classes go on several field trips during the year, but parents who aren't official chaperones are usually invited to join in if they want to drive themselves and pay the entrance. Hopefully, at an apple orchard, there will be so many things to look at he won't even think about missing you. *hugs* GL with Ben's project. a relief map sounds kind of fun!

Sam, I hope the repair people come when they are supposed to and do the right things! GL with the storms. Ours are due in an hour or so and will blow right on through this evening! I've got to get my flashlights ready and charge my phone...

Ava is still a little feverish today, so I'm working from home. Had to cancel two classes. Just watching the trees wave in the wind and waiting for the storms...

Thanks Sam and ML. Ben was never this freaked out about trips, he loves traveling. Evan loves the destination but the logistics of getting there worry him. He is especially anxious about getting home on time for the bus ride home. He doesn't want his brother to be alone on the bus. (Projection much? ) ML I think unofficial chaperones are allowed, but he will want to go home right after the trip instead of getting back on the bus (in spite of not wanting Ben to be alone! We did this in preschool) so I'm thinking it would be better to save the chaperoning for later in the year, just to get him used to the school trip routine.

Meanwhile -- I'm sorry Ava is still sick and that you had to cancel classes. Hope she feels better soon and that your class schedule isn't too disrupted.

Sam, LOL about the chimney cleaning! Hope all goes well and that cleaning/repair drama is limited to your washer. Oh and yes work will be slow right through the beginning of October as the Israelis celebrate Sukkot right after Yom Kippur. A colleague was telling me that only once every 30 years or so do ALL the holidays fall on weekdays!

We're getting storms too. I love it. Was a long hot summer so the cooler weather will be welcome. I have gardening to do! After it dries out that is.
