An update on my surgery
Hi friends. Sorry to leave you all hanging here. I just have been in so much pain I haven't sat down in front of our computer really. I have been using my phone to post little updates on FB. On Thursday, the 29th I went in to have my gallbladder removed. It was the laser surgery so I was supposed to be in and out and home by the late afternoon. That didn't happen. It seems that during the surgery, while working on removing my gallbladder, my diaphragm and lung were punctured and my lung collapsed. I was told it was fixed with mesh and staples, whatever those are. The surgeon also told my mom that there were some "adhesions" on my colon, which he removed. I'm not sure that that means and I haven't been back to see the surgeon yet. I woke up in recovery in excruciating pain. I felt like my right side had been ripped out or something. It hurt so bad. They kept me in the hospital until Friday evening and then I was allowed to come home. All things hurt; breathing, talking, laughing, sneezing, coughing, getting in and out of bed. I can't really walk upright that well, I hunch over. My stomach broke out in an itchy rash from the pre-op wash. I finally was able to go #2 (sorry, TMI) after a week after talking some milk of mag. I did go back to my local doctor last week and they did a chest x-ray to make sure I am healing okay. My pain meds were upped because I was not managing well. I also got a shot in the butt of Toradol, which helped with the pain too. So overall it's just been a really crappy ordeal.
I stayed home for a week and came back to work yesterday. I am tired but because the pain is okay when I am sitting down, I am here. So I am at work because I have a comfy chair and am okay here. When I am up on my feet, it is more soreness. When I lay down, I feel like I am being stabbed. It's so unbearable I want to die. It does still hurt when I breath deep. I am battling a cold as well, which doesn't help at all. I think I slept for about 90 minutes total last night. I hunched over on the floor crying for awhile because it just hurt so damn bad.
I called the surgeon this morning and my appointment was moved from Friday to tomorrow due to the pain I am having. We'll see what he has to say. I am nervous though because I have gotten little information. I have been made to feel like an inconvenience each time I have called or asked questions.
For my friends that sent me beautiful flowers, thank you so very, very much.
Oh Kelli, this is so not right! I hope it gets better for you! They probably don't want to deal with you since they know you have a lawsuit on your hands. If things don't get better, try and find a new doctor!!!! You shouldn't have to take tons of pain meds and still be in full on pain! I think about you every day hoping that you're better! ((((HUGE HUGS))))
I'm so sorry that you're going through all this Kelli.(((((HUGS))))) I really hope that everything gets better for you soon. Don't let them make you feel like an inconvenience, remind them that it's their fault that you have to go through all this pain!
Please keep us posted. I'll send you lots of prayers and healthy vibes, hope your pain goes away soon! More big (((HUGS)))
Oh Kelli - i'm soooooo sad for you! This little operation was suppose to fix you up :( I hope you get some answers today and please KUP and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Kelli, Hugs and Prayers honey! What an ordeal to have to deal with along with the frustrations...it hardly seems fair. Maybe it's time to put your Mean Face on and Demand answers. You deserve them. Good Luck and I hope you come home with answers and less pain. (((HUGS)))
Oh Kelli! This is I would be sure to let them know since this is their mistake they should be treating you like royalty! KUP and get better.
Kelli, this is just overwhelming and totally uncalled for. Mean nurses belong in HELL. Nurses are supposed to COMFORT patients. :(
Sending you lots of warm thoughts and get well vibes. I hope the mistakes that doctor made will be healed up quickly and you will have no long-term ill effects. *hugs*
