cerclage removal

I started doing a little research on-line about the removal of a cerclage and what it is like. They don't give you any meds or anything and most of what I found were horror stories about how awful it was. My doctors have been like "It's just one little snip and out it comes...", but that is not the way any of the stories on-line have been. I'm wondering if anyone knows anyone that had one and what was it like? I'm starting to get really nervous about it.

I don't know either:( I have never had one, and I don't know anyone who has.
:bigarmhug: Hopefully all the scary stories on the internet are the exception, and people just don't write about the 'normal' removals. GL!!

My bestfriend has had one for everyone of her last 7 pregos and they take it out around 38 weeks. I have never heard her complain about it.

I have had an IUD in and that was like a pinch and I had some spotting after and mild cramps. Maybe it is like that.

When you read that stuff keep in mind that some women just a cervix check is tender. How are you at yearly exams? How was getting it put in for you?

When are you getting it out exactly? I did some googling on some birth forums from you and only found a few that thought it was at all painful. It seems like it is not the norm for it to be excessively painful in anyway. Hang in there and let us know how it goes.

I have scheduled to have it taken out on June 7th at 7 am. I was able to choose if I wanted it taken out at the office or at the hospital. I chose the hospital, just in case I was to go into labor. They will monitor me for a few hours and then send me home. However, I will stop all my meds at that day. (I am on two different things to stop contractions.) So who knows what will happen.

I agree that you're more likely to find horror stories than find people talking about how simple it was (have you ever noticed people are 10x's more likely to review a product if it's caused problems?). I would assume it's probably slightly different for everyone, as is ANY procedure down there.

I have had 2 cerclages. 2nd just taken out on the 16th of this month. I had no pain. Worst part was the speculum...

Now just biding my time waiting for labor to start!
