Friday QOTD

Do you have a piece of furniture in your house that you'd love to replace? On the other hand, do you have one that you just LOVE?

I love my bed room set it is a king and my mom bought it for me when I got married. Ok so I'm divorced now but still it is the last thing she bought me and I got it in the divorce (had to fight for it in court!!!)

Since I only have my bedroom set and the kids sets I don't have a need to get rid of anything, what I do still NEED is another dresser. They have no closets in the basment so storing cloths has become tricky.

I HATE my couches!!! I've been begging DH to get new ones and FINALLY got him to agree we can get new ones next year. They are hand me downs from his parents and are at least 10-15yrs old, they have come in handy and are looking fine, it's just they are brown and old and bulky and take up way to much space and with the baby coming, i need more space!!! With DH's allergies, i'd really like to get either pleather or leather seating - just a couch, maybe one that reclines too... but we don't need a love seat, and that would really open up the room to just have the one couch....i'm hoping that maybe by Labor Day weekend i can convience him to get a couch..... he just has a hard time letting things go...

On the other hand, i do like our bedroom set, we got it when we moved in together and it's a pretty dark cherry wood.

We've been wanting to replace our bed! It will get sent to the guest room (we currently have a full-sized AeroBed for guests) because it's not too bad for a week or two, but we're ready for a more comfortable, new bed...and a queen instead of a full!

(I'd also love new couches...ours are couches my DH bought from a MSgt for $60 back when he was a young, single airman. Now DH is a MSgt and I think it's about time we pay it forward... maybe when we leave this base.)

I LOVE my step tansu-- bought it right before we left Japan (let me see if I can find a pic) and I love my dining room table... we made it ourselves!

(this is right when we moved in.)

I love your stuff but as a BTDT mom I can say if your going to buy another go KING!!! And your right on about leather sofa I loved mine if they got sick on it junk just wipes off. Now I'm at Dad's (x go the sofa in the divorce) and I HATE his cloth stuff and rugs, so hard to clean. And I can't wait to see in 2 years how you feel about the bench seats and steps Dirol Now that I have toddlers I would avoid both. To hard to put a booster seat on a seat without a back and I can see a toddler climbing up the other to jump off.

LOL my 31 month old is giving me a run for my money today.

I'd love to get rid of my couches. DH and I bought them when we first moved in together, before we had kids. Needless to say, 8 years and 3 kids have taken their toll on them, and it definitely shows!

I LOVE my bedroom set! We got it for our 2nd anniversary, and even if it has a lot of pieces and they're all huge, I love the cherry wood, the little decorative carvings, everything. I hate being away from home because I miss my bed, LOL.

We're definitely going with a queen sized bed... we move so frequently that we have to buy furniture that we can be confident will fit in whatever house we are in. We've been overseas for nearly 10 years, and there's a big difference between house standards in different countries. If we had a king sized bed here--and our house is one of the bigger houses in the area-- we'd have to find another room for our dresser/s! In fact, a queen sized bed is going to be tricky! We had a queen in Japan and there was barely room to move around it!

A beautiful thing about the step tansu chest is that it's in three parts... the top part can rest "upside-down" on the bottom steps and change the piece into a rectangular storage unit. You just pull the drawers out and flip them over. I love my step tan! When the movers unpacked and I had to sign off on the stuff being okay, I was like, "yeah, yeah...I'm sure the tv is fine... just let me inspect my step tansu!"

We built benches for our dining room table just to have somewhere to sit! My "goal" is to gather up some mismatched chairs & paint them to replace the benches on one side of the table. Kind of like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/montessoribyhand/4581296327/in/faves-9357899@N07/
