Not a lot of movement!

I just started feeling Roman move 2 and 1/2 weeks ago or so. It is still really light. I saw it once and felt it once, but the rest of the time it is just on the inside. It happens in 5 min or so sessions 2-3 times a day and that is it. Shouldn't I be feeling more now if I started feeling him a couple of weeks ago?
Today was actually scary because I realized I hadn't felt him at all in almost two days, I do feel him at least once a day. I ended up calling the doc and they told me to drink a caffeinated soda and lay down. This is the first caffeine I have had since getting pregnant. I did it, and only felt a few little bumps in the first ten mins after drinking, and then nothing for another hour and a half. Right as I was getting nervous I felt about 5 little kicks once I stood up.

Everyone is getting these crazy kicking stories.. shouldn't I feel harder and more often movement?

I wouldn't worry since we are still pretty early. Everyone is different and every baby is different. Later in our pregnancies our babies will be stronger and it will be much more important to be sure we feel them regulary.

BTW, when I really want my little one to move, orange juice works great! Wink

With my first, I hardly felt her move. Like you, I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks or so, and then it was just a couple of little kicks a day. If I had this baby first, I would have been SO worried, because she moves so much more than dd ever did!! Do you know where your placenta is? If it is anterior, you won't feel or see the movement as much as if it is posterior. And a lot of times, you will miss those little kicks when you are busy or sleeping because they aren't hard enough to get your attention.
As long as you feel something after drinking something cold/sugary/caffeinated and lying down, I wouldn't worry. Some babies are just more active than others!

My first 2 pregnancies mine was anterior - and it wasn;t until much later (like 30+ weeks) that I could see the movement - and only really ever felt it when I would sit down at the end of the day, or at night when I lay in bed.

I know I am on high anxiety about this topic, because of what happened last time.
But I know it always makes me feel better after an u/s when I see my LO moving around like crazy, and I don't feel it - it reminds me that we don't feel every movement.

If you just started feeling the movement, then it is normal not to feel it regularly for a while.

But at the same time ladies - when you are concerned - get checked out! Don't ever feel like you are wasting anyone's time or being paranoid.

i have been feeling alex move strongly since 16 weeks. last week or the week before, i realized i hadn't felt him move in three days!!! i drank a soda and some orange juice and laid down to see if i felt anything-- nothing. i poked my belly-- nothing. so i pulled out my doppler and got a good heart beat (158) and i could hear him moving on the doppler but could not feel it! he just had to of been in a position where i couldn't feel him. maybe your little guy is hiding in placenta or something and you just aren't feeling him.

I have been feeling the baby since about 16-17 weeks, as the weeks went on i started to feel more and more movement, to the point where some days i felt like i was feeling everything he was doing......but i always have a few days where i dont really feel anything. The last few days i have felt very faint movement, almost so faint that im questioning if i am actually feeling anything.....it only ever last like that for 2-3 days, i dont know if its his position or if he is just being lazy......but at mu last u/s the tech and i were watching him move all over but i only felt maybe 1/4 of his movement (which felt like it does when he has a busy day) So i try not to worry because im sure everything is fine and im sure he is moving way more then i a realizing

I can not stress enough the whole placement of the placenta. DS was anterior and man what a difference this time around, DD has a posterior placenta. I feel like I can feel EVERY. LITTLE. MOVEMENT with her, where as with DS I felt like I couldn't feel hardly anything. Keep in mind there is still a fair amount of room in there, so he's going to have some "play room" that you won't feel. As said in PP, much later in the game, when there is NO room in there you'll feel EVERYTHING.

FWIW, I noticed the last few days I've been drinking a lot of juice (now that DH is home, we have it in the house again..) and she wasn't nearly as active as she was yesterday when I drank nothing but water! For me the sugary juice didn't hype her up.

I decided to try drinking a pop after reading this thread, and after 2 sips i started to feel movement! Normally i only drink water throughout the day, funny how every baby is so different! I know alot of women say ice cold water makes there LO move, but it does nothing for me!

naw, you shouldn't be worried...there are still some days that i don't think i feel her at all.... or i only feel her for like a minute.... I have tried juice and pop, and that doesn't seem to matter to her. I think it's when you're like 28 wks along, that you're suppose to get at least 5 kicks within an hour...just one hour, not all day or anything. As your baby gets bigger, i'm sure you'll feel him more. I hope calling ur dr helped to ease your mind. Smile

I agree, for DS pop did it every time. The other day I didn't notice her moving and had DH pick me up a coke and it did NOTHING haha..

I'm feeling pretty regular movement, but my midwife said that if a time came when I didn't, drink the coldest glass of ice water I can handle! I was thankful that she said to drink it... I was nervous when she said, "get a big cold glass of ice water..."
