I'm looking for some advice from the BTDT mom's. Just a few things as I am learning on the fly!
Gas - Everyone keeps telling me I need to burp him better because he is very gassy. I know he's gassy, I can feel it. But I burp him between boobs and at the end. Usually a burp comes up, but sometimes one doesn't. The nurses all showed me what to do and that's what I'm doing, but he's still got quite a bit of gas. Any other suggestions?
Breastfeeding - Overall, I think it's going well. I still have this fear of starving him though. Sometimes, he just wants to suck nonstop. I can't tell if he's hungry or just wants to suck. The nurses at the hospital told me to stop after 30 minutes on each side, but it's hard to just stop when he keeps crying and rolling his head around looking for a nipple. Then, at other times, even though its been 3 or even 4 hours since his last feeding he just seems more interested in sleeping. Twice today I've had to annoyingly wake him to feed him. Is that normal? At the hospital, they kept making a huge deal over the feeding every 2 hours. I felt like it make sense to offer it to him every 2 hours, but if he's sleeping he can't be too hungry, right? I can tell now when he seems hungry because he gets all wide eyed and is looking around.
Bleeding - I have all but stopped bleeding already. I put on a new pad about 10 hours ago and haven't had a single drop since then. When I go to the bathroom, I can see the water is tinged pink/orangeish a little bit and sometimes there are tiny clots but that's it. Is that normal? Is it going to go back to bleeding heavier again? I'm still wearing the super maxi pads because I'm expecting it to come back and don't want to be unprepared. I can tell I'm still swollen down there from when I "pat" dry. Like I mentioned before, I only had a very small tear and a couple of stitches. It doesn't hurt so much as it is generally uncomfortable. I'm just trying to determine what I should be prepared for.
Thanks in advance!
