Since I've been reading reviews and researching the crap out of car seats I thought I would include a very interesting bit of information I've stumbled across.
LATCH is the clip lock system that ALL car seats now come with, it is the law for car seats to come with LATCH. LATCH is currently the safest way to install your car seat in your car IF your car has LATCH.
BUT there are stipulations to LATCH. On most cars the LATCH is only suggested for use until 40 pounds (child weight). This is an individual limit PER car type and can usually be found in your owners manual that came with the car. If you no longer have that book your can google to find your owners manual online. JUST BECAUSE THE CAR SEAT MIGHT BE RATED TO 65 POUNDS OR EVEN 100 POUNDS DOES NOT MEAN LATCH IS THE BEST WAY TO SECURE THE SEAT! If your owners manual does not state a recommended LATCH limit it is suggested that you follow a 40 pound (child weight) limit. At the point that your child outgrows the LATCH weight limit but not the car seat limit, reference your owners manual for proper seat belt installation.
This is something I had NO clue about and I'm sure majority of moms don't realize either (or maybe they do.. haha!) Just thought I would share!!!
