Weekend chat thread

What is everyone up to this weekend?

We are having a quiet weekend. We have no plans at all. DH would normally be working his 2nd job but he had to quit because he tore up his knee really bad (they think he needs surgery Sad ). Anyway, I'm hoping to get a bunch done (sewing and cleaning, maybe scrapping), but that means getting off the computer.... Wink

Nothing here. We might do game night with my mom and my sister tonight, but I'm constantly exhausted these days and no fun anymore, haha.

I have no plans. I try to rest as much as possible during the weekends. The week days wear me out - even though work isn't very physically demanding anymore.

Jennie, I'm just so glad you can still be active and not on bedrest or anything to restrictive.

Rachel, I love game nights. Hardest part nowadays is sitting that long, though!

I organized the food closet this morning! I do much better with big projects like that then with the small day-to-day things. I hope to sew some pillows for my outdoor swing today. Tonight my 3 oldest have their violin recital...what a relief--it's been a lot of work preparing for it. Tomorrow after church we will head down to my parents for dinner with all my siblings and their family. My parents just got back this week from a trip to Jerusalem and so I'm sure will get to see lots of cool pictures!

My Dh ripped out our rotten deck yesterday and i was super happy with having that done, today my DH and i went for lunch and came home to find my DH cousin at our place with his tractor to rip out our hedges, they are massive and take up the entire length of the backyard so its a big job and we just talked to his cousin yesterday about coming over, so i was thinking it was take a week or two for him to find time! YAY!! im so happy to get them gone!!!!

We are currently painting baby's room!! We are doing two colors, so we will only get the top half done this weekend but I'm just happy it's finally getting done! Tonight DH works so I'm going to make an appearance at a friends birthday. Tomorrow is coat two of the paint and hopefully some yard work. Then we are having some company over to watch the hockey game (maybe a fire after if it's not too windy).

I also have Monday off (YES!) so I'll get the grocery shopping done then and probably just completely relax and watch bad tv.

My oldest DD has an overnighter tonight with her girl scout troop. It is the first time that she has gone with a group like that over night. She has spent plenty of nights away from home, but it has always been with family or very close friends. Other than that, the kids and I are sticking to home. DH has had to work all weekend.

Today I spent the whole day shopping! lol I had some things to return and gift cards to use, so I went a bought a bunch of stuff. I got home just before it started to rain so then I cat napped through the storm. The rest of my weekend will be spent finding a home for everything I bought, laundry, grocery shopping, and relaxing.

Oh how i wish I could just go out and go shopping. Although, I probably have spent just as much on-line as I would in the store.

Yeah, well after all my gift cards and credits I only spent $23 of "real" money. lol There isn't much I need either, but I got myself a pair of shoes and a pair of maternity shorts (I didn't have any and it's just getting soo hot). Then I got a car seat for DH's truck, TONS of clothes for the LO, and a couple of books/toys.

Last night I went to a Pampred chef party and bought 3 things.

Today I went grocery shopping and to Old Navy. $1 flip flop sale!!! I got 2 for Tessa, 2 for Peter, and 2 for me.

Then sneakers for Peter and a Mad Libs book for him too. I was a bad Mama last night, he lost his first tooth and the tooth fairy forgot to come!!!! So I told him she left me the money and dose not take the first lost tooth so Mama's can put it in the baby book.

Cooked turkey soup tonight and spent the day on and off the phone with Bill, he had to work this weekend.

Sunday we will go to church and then to my Aunts for a family dinner (but that's the same every week unles we go to VT to see Bill)

Today, I worked on the nursery. First, I put up a border. I thought two roles would be enough, but I was wrong Sad So, I have to order two more to cover the whole room. Then, we received the replacement crib (the other came broken). Dh and I put it together. Finally, I put the bedding on and hung up decorations that match the set.

I did some housework this morning while dh mowed the backyard, then he took ds to a car show. Apparently ds whined about not wanting to walk the entire 20 minutes they were there, so they left and came home. I started working on getting the baby's corner of our room cleaned up. I cleaned up the window sills and tracks and did some sorting. Tomorrow dh is going to move some furniture around in there and then setup the crib. Once it's all done i'll get the baby stuff out of ds's closet and start going through it all. Right now dh is napping on the couch and ds is watching Duck Tails while I play on here and read "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding".

you all have been busy!! I had my work walk this morning, but i didn't walk the 10K, i stayed behind and kept an eye on things.... it was freezing and windy, but at least the rain stayed away!! We had a pretty good turn out too. I did A LOT of moving, bending down, picking things up that were probably too heavy and just felt it by the end of the walk.... so i rested, then fell asleep (i'm not a napper), but feel so much better.

Tomorrow i'm meeting up with a friend i haven't seen for awhile and then going to a baby shower for another friend.....

Julie, I'm kind of jealous you get to go to a baby shower tomorrow, even thought it is not yours. I really enjoy baby showers, they are just so happy Smile

Megan, is that a book? Sounds interesting, you will have to tell us about it. Good job on the cleaning.

Robyn, sorry you have to order more border Sad

Kiri, were the gift cards from a shower?

AFM - I made it through the day. Only one huge breakdown today. I'm so tired of them, grrrr. DH and DD barely are fazed by it anymore and that almost makes it worse.

Yup, I just got it today. It's put out by the La Leche League. I went into breastfeeding ds not really knowing what I was doing and figured women have done it for thousands of years so how hard can it be? Ds and I never figured it out, he latched on once at the hospital and every other time I tried he screamed bloody murder. I was frustrated so gave up trying after a few days, pumped sporadically for about a month, then gave up entirely. This time I really want to try breastfeeding again, so I want to be prepared. I just started the 4th chapter and I already feel like i've learned alot. They talk about the importance of skin to skin contact asap and I realized I never really did that with ds. From what i've read so far I highly recommend the book.

Yup! I had my shower back in April that I never spent the gift cards from. Then on Wednesday last week I was surprised when all the girls at work threw me another one. I got even more gift cards along with SO many diapers (I hadn't gotten any at my earlier shower). So this baby is set! Smile

Megan, way to go on taking charge and reading. I didn't have any trouble with DD (other than it took 4 days for my milk to come in and the normal pains) but I'm still sure there is more I could learn.

Kiri, what an awesome surprise at work.

AFM, this morning I was allowed to sleep in. This is really good since I'm sleeping terrible at night. Then, DH even made us all a really nice big breakfast - egg, potatoes, waffles. Really nice. So my day is starting pretty good.
