Do you plan on taking any classes before the baby is born & if so, what ones?
Not this time. But in the past I have taken
Birthing From Within
I taught the breastfeeding class at our WIC office for 4 years so I think that counts as taking it
I would love to take the Birthing From Within one over I took it 10 years ago while in Midwifery school before I had kids. And it was the most fun and helpful part of my training. http://www.birthingfromwithin.com/classes
Tons! Haha I signed up for a birthing/pain management class at my hospital and they have all of these supplemental classes for me to take for free. So I'm going to try to utilize those as much as possible. (Congrats on being in the double digits!!)
Basic Infant Care - A lecture style class where parents-to-be learn what they need to know about caring for a newborn, information about normal behaviors and parenting is also included.
Prenatal Breast-feeding - Introduces women to breastfeeding basics: the benefits, how breast milk is made, how to know your baby is getting enough milk, helpful techniques, prevention and treatment of common breastfeeding problems and the pumping, collecting and storing of breast milk.
Postnatal Breast-feeding - Bring your baby and consult with an LC.
Planning a postive birth - The experience of birth profoundly affects women and their families. Explore the steps and strategies that can help women have the birth they envision.
Baby inside you - The experience of birth profoundly affects women and their families. Explore the steps and strategies that can help women have the birth they envision.
Parents Night - Join a pediatrician for discussions on issues that concern every parent, including infant screening, jaundice, colic, fever, immunizations and when to call the doctor. A pediatric dentist discusses dental care, pacifiers, thumb sucking and fluoride.
Even though I have done this before, I am taking 2. One is about getting your child ready for the new baby, and the other is a free BFing class, both in June.
I am hoping to take a birthing class that includes sessions on delivery, taking care of baby, and Bfing, I am also thinking of taking an infant CPR course, my DH has already taken it through his work so i am hoping his mom will come with me since she will be our main babysitter....
I took a few with DD. I had the 6-week birthing course, breastfeeding course, and an infant safety/CPR class.
I leaning away from a class this time, although I might do a homestudy.
That reminds me that I need to freshen up on my infant CPR!
I didn't take any last time, but might look into a BFing class (I BFed my DD for 8 months, but had a lot of pain/issues in the beginning and would love to skip that!).
We're taking advantage of all of the (free) classes/programs that we're offered.
We've been to "Bundles for Babies"--about budgeting & the financial impact of adding a baby.
I'm going to go to a Prenatal Health & Wellness class
DH will go to "Dad's Class"
There's a breastfeeding support group that meets 2ce a month that I will go check out a few times before baby comes.
Might do the birthing class offered by the Red Cross volunteers (but might just borrow a few dvds from one of the instructors that I know since that is geared toward delivery at the base hospital and we're going off base)
And in June we're doing "Baby Basics"
We'll also be getting visits from New Parent Support Program before/after baby's born.
Not planning on taking any. With DS I took a birthing class and an Infant CPR class.
Since it's been 10 years, I probably should take a refresher course on the CPR one.
I was planning on taking a tour of the Mother Baby floor, but now I am in a different hospital. I am so proud of all of you taking BFeeding classes. Becca, I loved the BFing support group that I went to. We have moved since my last baby and I am going to miss those ladies a ton.
I prolly won't take any but a CPR refresher, mine runs out this month.
No I probably won't take any. I didn't with DS and don't plan to now. There's not a lot available here in our small town anyway.
yup. I"m taking a class (meets 4x's) in May - basic baby care, labor&delivery, pain management, car seats, etc.
And i'll be signing up for a 1 day class about breast feeding in June.
Nope - not this time.
