What carseat/stroller and why?

Okay, I definitely want a safe safe safe carseat. I would also like one that can fit into the stroller so I don't have to wake him when I move him. My mom is adamant that I get a stroller that can be taken on rougher terrain as they like to walk a lot and not on concrete. I would also like this for the park and such. Any tips?

I just bought a Britax B-ready stroller. It was on sale with $150 dollar off the Britax Chaperone Car seat. It does everything you mentioned.

I actually have one of each - a standard travel system stroller and a jogging stroller. They do have the jogging strollers that fit the infant seats though Smile

We registered for the chicco cortina key fit 30 travel system. I liked it, the reviews were good and i thought it was easy to snap baby in and out of it, plus i liked the carseat base has a level on it so we know for sure the base is even.

I know a lot of strollers that aren't part of a travel system come with adapters so you can put the carseat in the stroller...

This is one of the ones I have been looking at, this and the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe.... my main issue is neither of them are the all terrain style. The only one I could find that was all terrain and has everything else is the Baby Trend Expedition, but while it does have SOME really good reviews, it also has some really really bad ones! I may have to forfit the all terrain! Sigh, I wish I could make decisions more efficiently right now!

Okay, we made the purchase tonight at Babies R Us. We had to order it because pink was all they had in stock. After trying out our top picks we really like the Chicco Cortina 30 system, so good choice Julie. They only thing I didn't like was how hard it would be to get in the lower storage basket with the carseat in it, everything else was excellent. They didn't have a lot of color options. It was either the pink, the gray and red or the yellow one. They didn't have a blue or green in the 30 system. We didn't want pink for obvious reasons, this sounds silly, but I wear a lot of pink and didn't want red, and it isn't my fav, so we went with the yellow. My husband thinks it is a little loud, but he agreed to it. I think it is super cute. Do you think yellow is okay for a boy? http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3604038 Now I can relax on crazy research until after the shower!
Yay

We registered for the Chicco Discovery...I think it's like the Cortina, but just a different color, maybe? I can't wait to get one!

I bought the Chicco (gray/green) one for DD. I really liked the Chicco infant carrier/carseat. I bought it because it was the highest rated infant by consumer reviews.

Now that we are having boy/boy twins, I ordered another Chicco (gray/green) infant carrier/carseat.

I did not get the Chicco stroller. For the twins, I did get the double snap and go so the carriers will snap right into the stroller.

As for a jogging stroller for DD, I just bought one. It did not have the carrier attachment but most of the jogging strollers are just to big to use out and about. I only used mine specifically when I wanted to go for a walk.

With DD I was looking for a jogging stroller that I could snap the Chicco carrier into but I couldn't find one.

We still haven't settled on a car seat, but will most likely be going with the Sit & Stand stroller since DD3 is 2 tomorrow and there's no way I can trust her to walk next to me yet.

The Chicco Discovery is their Cortina style, it is only rated to 22 pound instead of 30. I loved that color, but wanted the 30! I am so glad others have decided the same thing!

See, that is precisely why I'm glad I have y'all. I got so overwhelmed looking at the different strollers I didn't even notice the 22lb thing. I must reconsider my decision now, lol!

I don't know if it really matters if you get one that is only 22lbs. We have a Graco carseat from dd, and she did reach the limit before a year, but seriously by the time they are 22 lbs you SO don't want to be carrying them in the bucket anymore. Way too freaking heavy! We just got a rear facing convertible when she outgrew it, which she is still in now. And a lot of babies outgrow the length before the weight anyways.

Sara, I love the colour! Mine is brown, so boring:D

I was looking at pics of Clara & she was out of her infant carrier before 30 lbs. It's so hard for me to remember these things. I'll still mention it to DBF to see what he thinks, but he is in love with the discovery.

Angie- they really push the weight limits but it's really the height limit most people should look at, since most babies outgrow the height well before the weight. The Discovery travel system includes the regular Chicco KeyFit, not the 30 BUT from everything I've read the KeyFit30 only offers 1 extra inch of height. We went with the regular KeyFit and we love it and I actually put DS in his convertible seat before he even outgrew the infant seat because it was just getting too heavy to carry and he's just 22lbs now, at 15 months old (and 31 inches).

*lurker - b/c I'm hoping to give birth in July*

We just ordered the Chicco Cortina Together double stroller/and car seats in Romantic (ha, grovey2 it's grey/black) and the single system in Extreme (orange/grey). We're having triplets and decided to go this route instead of a triple stroller. Hubby is big on safety and the Chicco rates highest on Consumer Reports by quite a bit. We had to order/ship everything since we live in AK and there were limited options for what we could purchase here.

We do a lot of walking on back service roads and I think/hope it will be just fine.

I decided against an infant carrier this time, and I really want to get the Radian convertible car seat. It's not cheap, and I'm doing my best to convince DH that it's the best choice. Still sticking with the Sit and Stand stroller, though!

I got the Discovery too. I was going to go for the one with the 30 lbs weight limit, but the sales guy at Babies R Us made an excellent point that when your child is 25-30 lbs you probably aren't going to be carrying them around in the carrier. At the time I bought mine, there was an $80 price difference between the 2. He said to save the $80 and put it towards the next seat.

The website says 5-45 pounds rear facing, so I figured we'd be good.
