Baby Boys birth story

As I mentioned before, I had the Dr sweep my membranes on Tuesday afternoon. By the time we got home I was having some ?painful? contractions, but nothing that stopped me in my tracks. I went to bed around 830-9 ish, and they must have tapered off, cause when DH woke me up around 1030 they were pretty much gone. DH was determined to get things moving though, so we DTD twice in the next hour or so. When I got up to use the bathroom after that I had a lot of bloody show, and was contracting again, every 5 minutes or so. I lay down to see if they would continue, and on the next contraction felt a ?pop? inside me. I didn?t move, and nothing happened, but I was pretty sure my water had broken. I called DH, and when I shifted on the bed to tell him, fluid poured from me and soaked my pants. His response, was ?yes, I think you are right? 
We decided to go to the hospital to get checked out, but half expected to be sent back home as my contractions were still not very close together. We drove the 3 blocks there and walked up to maternity, and they were coming about 3 minutes apart when she put me on the monitor. I was still able to talk through them, though I did need to stop moving when they happened. I think they would have sent me home, as I was only at a 4, but I have a history of quick deliveries so they admitted me. I walked around the delivery room for awhile, and then decided to get in the shower and let the warm water wash over my belly. DH and I stayed in there for an hour or so, and the nurse kept asking me if I felt pressure at all. I finally said I felt a bit of pressure so we got out and she checked me again. It was about 215 and I was only at a 5, maybe a 6. I was pretty disappointed in this as in the past I usually have very quick deliveries once my water breaks, but I have never had my water break so early before either. By this time my contractions were pretty intense and coming really fast, but seemed really short to me so I decided to stay out of the shower for a bit, hoping that would help. I lay on the bed, but the contractions seemed way too painful that way so I decided to get back in the shower. Around this point the nurse suggested that this baby might be posterior as my son was, and that was why I wasn?t progressing as fast as before. Up until this point I had been sitting on a bench in the shower, but she suggested that sitting on the birth ball might help. My contractions were getting very intense and longer at this point, so I agreed and she got the ball. In my few minutes of clarity I started thinking that hands and knees might be better if baby was posterior, but I did a few contractions on the birth ball which certainly didn?t help the pain  At this time, I was crying and saying I couldn?t do this anymore during the contractions (which I should have known I was almost done). I was also shaking so hard that DH thought I was going into shock. I decided to go to my knees, with my arms on the bench in the shower, and as soon as I had a contraction in that position, I needed to push!
The nurse told me in no uncertain terms that I was not allowed to give birth in the shower (which is funny in retrospect) and she wanted to check me, so I got out, I made it to the bed and had another contraction on hands and knees, then asked DH to help me turn over. As soon as I turned over I was overwhelmed by the urge to push, and did so. The nurse said, ?don?t push? and I yelled ?I cant! Help me!? and delivered the head! The other nurse was on the phone calling the Dr to come in when all this was going on, so our nurse was frantically calling for her, getting DH to help, and encouraging me to push out the shoulders all at once. She commented later that she barely got the tray over in time  Babies delivery time was 306, less than an hour since my last check.
I got to hold babe immediately skin to skin until the Dr got there about 15 minutes later, at which point I delivered the placenta and got stitched up, and got stitched up, and got stitched up! I had a 3rd degree tear almost to my anus. Ouch! Thank goodness it doesn?t hurt as much as they seem to think it should! I am on 2 different antibiotics and a stool softener though. Baby is doing good, nursing like a champ, but still no name 

Yes he does! His name is Trent Alexander. Trent is his very own, and Alexander is for DH's best friend and his father (it is their last name) who had a big influence on DH while he was growing up.

Welcome Trent! Good job Kyla. Was he born on the 23 or 24? So glad the babies are out!
