There are those belly band things I hear people talk about...I forget what they are called and have never used one, but some people swear by them. I guess it helps with both getting your belly back to normal size and reducing afterpains (do you get afterpains with a c/s? Probably not...)

Oh yeah, I used a postpartum wrap after my first c/s, and while I didn't notice whether it helped with the flab, it does help hold your muscles together so they can start getting back to where they used to be. I'd recommend it for c/s moms just for the pain relief/support alone!!

Congratulations! After you are cleared for exercise, check out Restore the Core. It's a program designed to tone the most inner layer of the abs to help get rid of the lower belly sag. Baby Boot Camp owns this program. they teach classes nationwide and there are DVDs you can order. I did it after DD was born and it really helped a lot. It's a lot like pilates.

C-section recovery is going well... now 9 days after birth day....
YES - you definatly get after pains w/ a c-section and I found out they are SOOOO much worse for a repeat C-section - for some reason nurses told me the recovery for 2nd, 3rd, 4th section is much worse than the first.
I was up and moving a few hours after the surgery - the sooner the better, and I was doing ok - but I was still on morphine - the real pain started the next day... I was just careful to ask for more percocet every 4 hours and stay ahead of the pain - also when offered I took 2 pills instead of one... it is still very hard to get in and out of bed and up and down from chairs.... I got sent ohme with a RX for 30 pain pills and just got another refill for 20 more... I am almost out of pills and today was the first day I think I might not need them anymore - but I will see in the morning as getting out of my bed still requires my husbands help (our bed is about at high as my hips).

The cramping pain was just as bad as the braxton hicks pains i was having if not worse! But that has stopped already.
It is so worth it though!

for the belly flab I have been using either my belly band (used to help cloths fit better during pregnancy) or a post partum belt - dh has to stetch it to make it fit (velcro closure) and it helps with the pain and hold the muscles in place. It just fells odd to walk around with all the extra skin hanging down....
