CHRISTMAS!

It's almost here!
What are everyone's plans?

We are a family of many Christmas celebrations! (being a child of divorce and my mother married 3 times - I am used to this - LOl)

1) Christmas Eve - spent w/ my dad & step mom ...and her family

2) Christmas early morning - me, DH, DS - presents under the tree!
3) Christmas late morning - my mom and her husband come over for a quick hello - open one gift, eat some bagels
4) Christmas noon - Get dressed, go to DH's parents house, open gifts, have a formal breakfast
5) Christmas early - late afternoon - go to DH's Aunt's house - open gifts - early dinner
6) Christmas evening - go to my Aunt's house(the is my deceased step fathers side of the family) dessert & a secret santa gift exchange

7) Dec 26th - My mom and her husband come over for a big breakfast and open all gifts, more relaxed, not rushed as Xmas morning

Dirol Dec 27th - Christmas with my mothers side of the family

So we are kinda like the the movie "Four Christmases" but for us its more like EIGHT!!! I know most people think this is nuts - but for us it is what we are used to and the only way to see everyone we love without hurting any feelings. We are just lucky that on Long Island (where we live) everoyne lives within about 30 mins of one another!

So what are your plans?

1. Christmas eve it will be just me hubby and the kids. We will let the kids open their special gift (pajamas, hot chocolate and popcorn and a christmas movie). Everyone will get into said pajamas, get comfy and we watch a movie. We do this every year the kids love it.

2. Christmas morning just me, dh and the kiddos to open gifts.
3. Then we call my inlaws and they come down to open gifts and have a big breakfast.
4. Then my mom and step father will come over with my sister to visit and exchange gifts.
5. Christmas afternoon we will head out to my DH's aunts house where we will meet and visit with the rest of his family and then stay there for dinner.
6. After dinner and dessert we will head to my step aunts house to visit with my mom some more and visit with my step-dads family (also break the news of the pregnancy while we are there)

7. Boxing day (dec 26) we will go to my dads and spend the entire day there opening gifts and having a second huge Christmas dinner.

8. Sometime around the 27-28 we will go to my aunts house where the kids will have a small Christmas party with their cousins and play games etc.

Ours is insane too but we love it and do it like this pretty much every year too.

We switch off, Xmas Eve with one set of parents, Xmas Day with the other, and the swap the next year so everyone gets Xmas day at some point, but this year is a little different.

Christmas Eve: Spending the day at my parents' house with my sister, BIL, and their two kids. Eating the traditional Mexican food Christmas Eve dinner. (I guess I will not be adding any salsa to anything!) Then to church for the 6:00 Christmas Eve service and the kids' Christmas pageant - DS will be a shepherd!

Christmas Day: Wake up and do Santa presents, spending time just the 3 of us in the morning. I also have two shows this year, at 1:15 and 7:00, so DS and DH will be going over to the ILs for the day. Normally we'd be spending this day with the ILs but they are being awesome and postponing the "Christmas" part because I have to work.

12/26: Christmas celebration with the ILs, with Xmas dinner and opening presents.

I think I'm going to be exhausted after this is all over...

This is going to be a very quiet Christmas for us this year. We are not getting together with my immediate family until New Year's Eve b/c everyone was supposed to be out of town. One of my niece's got really sick so she and my sister stayed home while my other niece and brother in law went to Colorado to be with his family. We won't get together with them though b/c my niece is supposed to stay quarantined for a while. Some really nasty virus that kept her overnight the hospital seems to be to blame. Sad

My other sister was supposed to be with my mom's side of the family but she is pregnant and not feeling well. So, she is spending Christmas with her hubby at home (they live about 30 minutes away, same as my other sister).

We don't really have any traditions yet so I figure we will just have a nice dinner on Christmas Eve, maybe watch a movie before we go to bed and then open presents in the morning.

Mine isn't as hectic. But it's fun.

Christmas morning its DH, me and the kids, then late morning my Dad will come over for a big Breakfast and we'll do gifts.
Then that afternoon we go over to my Grandma's and have Christmas there. Usually while we are there My Mom step dad and sisters and my family will go on the backporch and have our family Christmas. It's easier that way for my Mom since she still has lil ones at home and she doesn't have to worry about Cleaning up her house before we come over. Smile

Everyone sounds busy! We will do:
1. Christmas Eve at our house with my parents over for dinner, they go home and we do bath, pjs, stockings and Christmas stories.
2. Christmas morning just DH, DD and I here.
3. Christmas late morning, leave for my aunt's house and stay for dinner, Yankee Swap and name draw swap. My parents, sister and BIL will be there along with my aunt, uncle and 2 cousins. We'll get home late that night (1 1/2 hour drive).
4. Day after Christmas, wake up, drive (2.5 hours) to see the inlaws. Big dinner with them and BIL and his family. We'll stay 2 nights than come home.

I am glad the weather is okay (no snow this year). That makes things trickier for sure.
