I know they say that every pregnancy is different, but...

For those of you not having your first child....

I know they say that every pregnancy is different, but...I can't keep comparing the 2 - like with my first pregnancy I was GREAT - never felt better, never got sick, was happy and glowing and i just loved it...I ended up having a boy....
Now I have know I am pregnant for all of 4 days now and already I am on such an emotional roller coaster, crying, screaming, fear that I won't be able to handle a 2nd child when the first one already runs me ragged, etc...also I am already hungry all the time, but get full so fast...this didn't happen until 3rd trimester last ime - I mean the baby is the size of an appleseed how much food can he /she need... anyway.... since its so different to far I can only guess it will be a girl this time around... but I know that, that might not be the case...

anyway - we won't be finding out until the baby is born what the little bean is

do any of you compare the pregnancy to your last one? trying to guess?

Hmmm. I honestly don't remember much about this early in the pregnancy with DS. I do remember being hungry a lot immediately, like right after I got my BFP. I remember scarfing apple slices with sharp cheddar cheese one day. I have that this time too, although I feel like I might be hungrier than I was with DS, and I'm craving more sweets than I did with DS, which is bad. I had morning sickness with DS, and so far none with this pregnancy, although I can't remember when the m/s started last time, it might have been later. I remember being soooo tired with DS. I'm tired now too, but I'm still able to keep up with my normal routines. With DS, I remember lying on the couch for hours because I was too exhausted to do anything else. Maybe it's just not having the option to lie on the couch that keeps me going--I'm to distracted and busy to bother with being that tired! Wink

And as far as eating, the baby might only be the size of an apple seed, but you, mama, are growing an entire new organ to support that baby. That is what makes us so tired and hungry during the first tri--we have to grow a placenta from scratch!

mhhh - I did not think of it that way - but that makes a ton of sense....
It wasn't that long ago that we were preggo with our little snow peas - but i seem to have forgotten everything already....

Like is it ok to sleep on your tummy now - and just stop when you can't anymore - or should you NEVER sleep on your tummy?

Is it ok to lift heavy things now or should I avoid picking up my 35 - 40lb kid as much as possible, or is it fine to do it until it gets too hard?

I know i will ask my Dr. all these questions next week...just can't belive i forgot so much.....

I think it is okay to sleep on your stomach. I forgot when that changes...I don't think it is for a while, though.

I carry DS around a lot and he is around 38 pounds. I am going to try not to do that anymore and only hold him in extreme circumstances. When I was pg with DS, my nephew got hurt during a baseball game and I had to carry him (he was probably 45-50 pounds). It didn't cause me any problems. I would just avoid doing it until you ask your doctor, unless you had to

I've compared all my pregnancies. With DS1 I was barely nauseous for a few days and had perfect glowing skin. Easy pregnancy for the most part. HORRIBLE heart burn the last month but that was about it. With DS2, I was non-stop nauseous for 4 weeks. I felt miserable and my skin broke out like crazy. I was also super emotional. I really thought he might be a girl. We didn't find out ahead of time and had boy #2. My pregnancy with DS3 and DS4 was somewhere in the middle of my first two. Felt kind of icky for a couple of weeks but nothing too major. And my skin only had the occasional breakout. Two more boys Smile DS5 was a repeat of DS2 except I think it was worse. I was so nauseous! Threw up a couple of times (never did with the others).
I read that it's okay to sleep on your stomach until it gets uncomfortable. For me that was around 11-12 weeks. I've carried my other kids during all my pregnancies but tried not to do it as much, esp the further along I got.
