Oh, people. Get a clue.

Store clerk: Not much longer, eh?
Me: What?
Store clerk: (glancing at my belly) How much longer do you have?
Me: Oh. Two months.
Store clerk: (eyes widening) Woah! You really popped right out there, didn't you?
Me: Um.....
Store clerk: You having twins?
Me: No. (%$^*@#!)

General rule of thumb: Never comment on the size of someone else's body. Even if she's pregnant.

And also, I hiked up a mountain today! For reals. It was with a group I was training for work...long story, my job involves natural science education...Someone asked me if he should boil some water and another said he'd dealt with people with chest pains on a hike before, but never had to deliver a baby. I was like, dude, you won't have to deliver a baby on this hike either. And someone else asked if it was twins. Apparently I am huge. And of course EVERYONE asked me if I was OK about every 5 minutes. I was fine. I'll be sore tomorrow, but it was actually much less difficult than I expected.

I got offered a chair when they were doing circle time at DS's speech group the other day. I told them to save it for a few months from now Smile Please, I have two preschoolers, I am up and down off the floor a million times a day!

I'm not sure why people assume that because you are pregnant they suddenly get to make comments, and 'show concern' about your abilities! Would you have offered me a chair if I was just fat? No, you would assume that I am an adult and can make that decision for myself. How does being pregnant change that again??

Ugh! seriously why are people so clueless!!!! I swear I want to have a shirt made that says, "Please be an idiot and tell me how huge I am, or ask me if it is twins...." Gah! Although I will admidt about a month ago I was at Target and the checkout guy made some comment about how I was, "going to pop any moment and please don't have a baby in his line." I looked him right in the eyes and said, "I am not pregnant....." That shut him up lol.

Carissa, that is so funny! I don't have the balls to say things like that to people. I know they mean well and think they are being funny or whatever. But it is pretty irritating. I like the shirt idea, we should get some made for all of us Smile

Carissa, that is hilarious!

Maggie, people are really clueless and mean. I hated it when I was overdue and still going to work and people would say to me, "Oh, you are still here?" On day 5 past my due date, I finally burst out with "No, I am a figment of your imagination." I was serious but they thought it was a joke.

This happened to me last week for the first time. I was on the elevator going up to my doctor's office and an older gentleman asked, "You due this week?" When I replied with, "No, not until early July" the look on his face was horrific..like how could my body possibly get any bigger?!?

Some people...

I must have popped in the last day or so, cause I have been getting a LOT of comments about how close it must be, or 'any day now' etc. Then people act really shocked when I say, 'not for another 2 months!'. I actually think its pretty funny cause no body knows what to say to that. I think I might just keep saying 2 more months right up until baby is born. Shock some unthinking people Smile
