trying acupuncture for induction today

Hi Ladies. I am on day 4 of prodromal labor today. Last night I woke up at 4am with a huge contraction that was very painful and in my back and was thinking oh please let this be it. I was too excited to sleep hoping it was real. I just had some more of the painless contractions. Then the cat came in with a mouse around 4:45am (still alive) and was playing with it. DH got up but didn't catch it but locked it into our entryway. Then I finally went back to sleep around 6am (DH was a snoring machine) and DD came in at 7am. I got her dressed and ready for preschool and DH took her, then I napped for a few hours. I emailed my acupuncturist last night and asked her if she would do an induction so I am trying that at 2pm today. I really hope it gets things going. It is 93 today, 97 tomorrow and 95 on Wednesday with high humidity and I just hope I am in the hospital in the a/c while this heat wave is going on. On the plus side I feel more crampy than usual today so I am very hopeful this induction will work.

Also just lost lots of mucus! So hopeful that things are happening.

I'm with Melissa, just stalking while I play the waiting game...Good Luck! I've got 2 weeks and 3 days left myself and I'm already getting anxious for this to be over, I can't imagine how you're feeling already.

Someone has recommended acupuncture to me, so let us all know if it works. Crazy how these last 2 weeks seem to feel like 2 years!

Good luck on that. This will sound weird but go swimming. While swimming do a lot of jumping. I think this did it for me and got me going.

Well, I am having some contractions that I also feel in my back with back cramps, but am not in active labor yet. I have a midwife appt this morning so I am going to ask her to strip my membranes. I can't wait for this baby to arrive!

No baby yet. MW didn't want to strip my membranes today because I am still only dialated 1cm. Kyla, I think you'll go before me. Tomorrow is my due date. DD was 1 week late so I am now setting my sites on that. I am trying to stay positive and just keeping my routine as normal as possible.

Sorry the acupuncture didn't work right away. Are you still having prodromal labor? Take heart, I was 1 cm last Monday, then 24 hours later I had contractions for 2 hours before my water broke, and I arrived at the hospital at 4 cm. You could go fast, any time now. Hang in there!

Haven't heard from you in a while...anything?? I feel like the prodromal labor thing has been contagious lately! I'm sorry, I know how hard it is to deal with that, having just been there myself. I really think a lot of times it has to do with positioning, like the baby is posterior or just hasn't quite settled down in the pelvis the way they want to be. It was definitely true in my case. I feel like a broken record, but do as much hands and knees time as you can. Do you have a yoga ball? When I finally went into real labor, it stalled out for an hour and I had no contractions, and as soon as I got on my hands and knees and rocked on the yoga ball (draped my torso over it) boom, they started up again and it went FAST after that. I remember feeling a big movement from the baby right before the contractions started again, and I kind of wonder if he moved up and resettled in a way that was more conducive to coming out. Anyway. Hands and knees. Do it. I know we will be hearing good news from you soon no matter what!

Hi Maggie. I am still pregnant. I did another acupuncture appt yesterday, but no luck with an induction. I lost more of my mucus plug today so hoping it's soon. The baby is in a good position now but I have been sitting upright and doing inversions and hands and knees. The prodromal contractions have stopped and I think this is due to the acupuncture so that's great. I am hanging in there.
