Why can't I pack that stupid bag???

I NEED to pack my hospital bag. Every day I say I will do it and so far I haven't. I feel like this kid could come flying out any minute and for some reason I can't get myself to pack the bag. I'm gonna be in trouble if I go into labor tonight Smile We met some people at the lake today whose baby came a month early totally out of the blue and unexpectedly, so it reinforced it for me that babies DO come before their due dates sometimes...and I really feel like this baby wants OUT and SOON. I think I'm in denial though, I act like I have forever left and plenty of time to finish getting ready.

If it makes you feel better, my due date is two days away and I still haven't packed anything. I have a ziplock with some toiletries around here somewhere, but that's it. The car seat is out of the box, but not installed. I don't really plan on packing much more than a change of clothes for me and a going home outfit for baby. DH can run home after baby is born for anything we need if we end up staying a while... I'm hoping for early discharge though, as long as everyone is healthy. It'll all come together eventually Biggrin

Our carseat is still in the box! But, we decided not to install it before the baby comes anyway, because I'm anticipating needing the back seat on the 40 min ride to the hospital. We'll have a day or two to get it installed after the baby is born.

I guess I am in the totally in denial camp as well. I just think this baby will come after it's due date since DD did. I realize that is not always the case. I did try on and wash a bunch of summer maternity clothes (thank goodness for hand-me-downs) and I washed some nursing pjs and a matching robe that I plan to pack for the hospital. I also ordered, received and washed a baby boy and girl outfit (not sure which we are having) and a baby blanket. I have yet to get the car seat out. I have 3 weeks left of work and then I start maternity leave so that is when I plan to finish the baby's room (hang up curtain rods, frame and hang pictures, etc and sort thru the gender neutral baby clothes). I feel good that the furniture is in place and that DH put a closet organization system in. I had some pretty strong BH contractions today so I guess that is a sign that the end is near. I am betting on 6.5-7 more weeks and will be shocked if baby arrives before then! Good luck getting motivated to pack. Did you make a list? Maybe that is the best solution, then you can pack when you go into labor but have a list to look at.

If it makes you feel any better.....I've got mine packed and they are just in the way Blum 3 I find myself or my DH moving/kicking them around at one time or another throughout the day LOL
I did use my hospital bag the other day when I went to the hospital and was kept over night for monitoring. Just restocked it yesterday, now its ready to go again.

Oh, and we still need to clean out our van and rearrange the car seats. Move DDs car seat to the other side, and install the car seat base......our van is no where near being ready Blum 3

Hmmmmmmm....
Maybe start by making a list and putting it next to the bag, then throw one or two items in a day as you pass them.... then it won't be such a big deal.

I find it hard to pack too early anyway b/c I still need / use 1/2 the stuff in it - but I have it like 75% packed next to my dresser, but still need ,my nursing / materiny PJ's and bras, so each time I wash them, I throw them on top of / next to the bag so I can pack them in a hurry OR still keep wearing them until its time - and when it is time - I will just reference the list to make sure I have my toothbrush, hairbrush, make up, deoderant (ya know stuff I still use daily).....

If you can trust DH to bring you the right stuff as needed then you don't need much - HOWEVER, my DH can bearly find his own underpants each day (and my home is pretty organized) so there is no way I can say to him "honey, please bring me my black leggings to the hospital" A) he would not know what Leggings ARE and Dirol he could never find them no matter how specific I am! So depending on your DH you might not have to worry about it too much...

I took an empty diaper box and when ever I come across something that I should take to the hospital with me I throw it in the box. I'm no where near ready but I have some of the more obscure items that I would be more likely to forget. I find the clothing and some of the toiletries I will use until the day I go into labor are the easy items to grab or ask someone to get them for you.
