I've been so so so sick!

I've been dealing with deblitating nausea since week 5 and yesterday was the absolute worst day so far. I threw up at least 12x's. I'm currently on zofran at the max dosages and it wasn't doing anything. My dr prescribed me phenergran for night time to work with the zofran. Man, it knocked me out! I had so much trouble functioning this morning because I was groggy. But it's kept the nausea at bay so far. It's starting to come back a little now. This is the first time in over 3 weeks that I have drank more than a 1/4 of my water bottle, I've taken my vitamins, and ate something that actually appears to be staying down.

I hope this keeps up because yesterday my dr was debating on whether I should go into the hospital for IVs or not. I think if it would have kept up today then that's where I'd be.

We'll see how tomorrow goes.

I wonder if you took 1/2 a dose of the phenegren if you would still hold off the nausea and be less tired? It can make you really groggy! Glad something is working though!

How awful!! I hope you can get some relief soon. At least the meds seem to help, even if you are groggy.

Thanks guys Smile I was at my wits end yesterday. I was at work and basically just sitting in the ladies bathroom crying. It was horrible. I was super sick with my last pregnancy and just feel so depressed that it's happening again. I just wanted a happy pregnancy this time.

And I am debating on taking half the phenergan tonight. Although I was very groggy at least I wasn't nauseas. What's the worst of two evils?

My vote for the worst is nausea.

Ask your OB about ginger capsules and vitamin B6, they both help nausea and have no side effects Smile I'm drinking ginger tea and it really helps! I'm also on zofran max dose. I'm always counting down the hours till I can take it again. The ginger tea really helps me get through the wait till my next zofran.

sorry to hear! I also heard taking papya enzymes help. I would check with your Dr. first though.

Oh man, that sounds horrible! I would have to agree with Stacy that nausea is the worst. I think if I had to choose between the two I'd go with being groggy. I hope you feel better soon :bigarmhug:

I am so sorry. I feel your pain completely. My first two were that bad. I just threw up all the time. This time I feel pretty rotten but I'm not throwing up as much. Just twice so far. But in the past? I threw up so much I had damage to my teeth! Ugh. It's the worst.

For me, the source of it is typically that during pregnancy I get a constant sinus drainage going on. I tend to throw up from sinus infections and pregnancy is one big sinus infection for me. All that draining down the back of my throat makes me feeling gagging plus it upsets my stomach. Yesterday the OB suggested Mucinex to dry my throat out. If any of your issues are from being extra mucous-y, you could try that.

Phenergan is powerful stuff but it sure works! With my first, I missed three weeks of work while taking it. I was teaching seventh grade and I just couldn't function. I was too exhausted. But I wasn't throwing up at least. It was good to get rested while feeling less queasy. If you can take a few days off, it might really help.

Good luck!
