I got a call on Friday morning from my midwife who wanted to arrange a booking in appointment for me. When she realised that I was going to be 10 weeks on Saturday she asked if I was doing anything then.
Hubby and I went to meet her, she is lovely and we were with her for over an hour and a half filling in the paperwork and chatting.
I have provisionally booked to have a home birth, she was so happy when I said that as she feels that most women do better at home than in hospital, and she agreed that the problems that I had when I had DS1 and DD were probably caused by the fact I had a drip in and couldn't move around.
So I have looked into renting a birthing pool and following some recommendations I have resereved a pool which will be delivered at the end of June.
We are so excited!!
On the other hand we are telling my parents today and I'm not sure how they will take it! The were pleased for us when I fell pregnant at the start of the year, once they had got over the shock. But this time they will be out of the country when the baby is due. So fingers crossed.
I'm glad everything is going well! I'm sure your parents will be a little bummed at missing the birth (we had to tell everyone we were pregnant the same time we told that we were moving across the county!) but they'll still mostly be excited.
Well, we gave my parents the present on Christmas Eve afternoon when my children weren't there. Dad spotted the scan picture first as mum turned two pages in the photo album by accident, mum then saw it and her first reaction was "really???". They were both happy for us.
As a said mum and dad will be away when the baby is due, it is a bit more than that. In May they are leaving the UK to sail around the world and will be gone for between 4.5 and 5yrs!!!!! Mum has said that they will now fly home more times than they had planned, the first trip will be in August when they will come to see us and the baby and it means they will also be able to attend my cousins wedding.
Wow! You're rit, that was a lot bigger trip than I was picturing! I'm glad they'll be able to fly back in August, though. Very cool!
What a neat way to tell your parents! I'm glad they are happy for you. The home birth sounds amazing. I am jealous. I will hopefully be giving birth in a m/w birthing center, so next best thing to home birth. No monitors or equipment or IV, minimal intervention.
