After a whopping 3 hours of labor, Emily Therese was born at the birthing center on Thursday, July 18, at 6:14 pm. She weighed 7.13, and was 21.5 inches long, the exact same stats as DS2. We are home now and doing well. More information later.

It was too fast in some ways. The labor was pretty manageable until we got to the point of pushing, then it got too intense for me. I started cramping up in my hips, then I started screaming that my hips were hurting. The m/w had to yell at me to breathe, and I finally got her pushed out. I only had a small tear, but my tailbone is bruised, and I also had a hemorrhage because a small piece of membrane didn't pass completely. They sent me home on oral Methergene(sp?) for 48 hours, and boy does it make the after pains intense. When I took Emily to see our family doctor yesterday for her first check up, I got a prescription for Tylenol 3. It helps take the edge off. Emily is nursing great. Maybe a little too great, because she's making me pretty sore. I can't wait till my milk comes in so she can actually feel full and stop being so vigorous with me. Other than that, we are enjoying being home. She is a precious little girl, and the other kids are absolutely in love with her. I was surprised at how much the older boys are enjoying her. They can't seem to keep their hands off her. They want to hold her or touch her all the time. It is so cute.
