Waiting to O

Let's get this party started! I know there must be people here in lurkdom.

I just ordered an obscene amount of OPK & HCG strips so I can test for O twice a day and start POAS at 3 DPO, etc. Dirol

So I am new to "trying", what are OPK & HCG strips?

I haven't been taking my temp, but doing a calculation based on my cycle to predict ovulation. My doctor said to start having sex up to 3 days before to increase chances.

We will see what happens, but hoping to be on a summer 2013 board Smile

Yayyyy, glad to have you here!

Many women use OPK (ovulation test) and HCG (pregnancy test) strips that they purchase from the internet (commonly known as internet cheapies or ICs) because we like to POAS (pee on a stick!) They are literally several cents each whereas you can spend 1000% more than that on ones in stores and they are nearly as reliable (sometimes not as sensitive.)

The OPKs can give you a heads up as to when O is coming, whereas your temps can only tell you whether or not you are Oing. You can also use other methods to tell when O is near. I would highly recommend reading Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's really informative. Hope you get your BFP easily! Smile

I guess I am here, O should be next Thursday so I will start peeing on OPK's around Monday or Tuesday because they are generally completly clear until the Wednesday. Hopefully this month is it, I really wanted a June baby because school cut off is June 30 here, so If I have a lovely co operative baby who comes two weeks early we will still make the cutoff. I can't temp accurately because my DS doesn't sleep through, he's getting better but is still not consistent enough for me to get accurate readings.

I ordered a bunch for this cycle too. I'm not going to chart this month because it is driving me nuts. Plan for this month...OPKs and lots and lots of BDing. If we are not successful this month I am meeting with the doctor for testing. Hopefully this month will be it!

Sounds like a plan, Katey! I know my sleep is not as good when I temp because I'm constantly waking up thinking it's time, but I'd also go insane if I didn't know I O'd for sure since I do have annov. cycles.

May I ask what cycle you're on? I hope this is it for you...fingers crossed!

Wendy, I vaguely recognize your name but I think it's from further back before last month. This is cycle 8 for me...have you been trying for awhile too?

Last month I decided to get really serious and drove my husband crazy obsessing. This month I'm trying to relax quite a bit more and focus on healthy lifestyle, etc.

This is month five for me, i'm getting discouraged, but I was also very lucky that DS was a first try baby so it's making this whole process feel so much longer. I already had to hold off longer than I wanted for age gaps between babies so I didn't have to fight as much for what I want. I've been in and out of boards, don't feel I should get invested anywhere until I get a bfp though, so I try to hang out more on DS's board.

I totally understand that. I'd probably hang on my kids boards but they don't exist any longer!

So....I'm a guinea pig this month!!!

Last month, I was taking no supplemental herbs and eating nothing intentionally specific in the realm of TTC but this month I am doing a bunch at once. I am really hopeful it'll help me grow & catch a strong egg, but just most importantly, I hope it helps rather than hinders my cycle. Turns out Soy Isoflavones are a natural Clomid for some but for others, actually prolong the cycle. I am taking a very low dose which may even do nothing. If I do end up pregnant, I won't know what to attribute it to, that's for sure Smile

Haha, that would suck. I am doing the same as what I did for DS and it's not working. I have almost fully gone to decaf, some days though i just need that bit of caffiene.Hopefully my going out today to buy some coloured jeans will mean I get pregnant because then I will be too fat to wear them.

I was just lookig at a calendar and went oh no I have miswed O, thankfully my brain caught up and realised I was counting a week ahead

We are on cycle 10 now. Never thought it would take this long for us. When we conceived our first it took us 4 cycles and I had an early miscarriage and then 3 months later I was pregnant with my son. This has been frustrating, but makes me want a second child so much more!

Well, FF has me Oing on the 24th, so if I follow how I have been doing I will actually O next Friday or so.

It took 5 years for my son, 5 years for Bailey (who I m/c 19 months ago). I am really tired of TTC. Then again, if I am not pregnant this cycle I am moving on to injectables and IUI.

It sounds like many of us have been on quite a journey in some form of another. That means there's a lot of well-deserved BFPs in our future, I hope!

I know what you mean, Katey, the harder it is to conceive, the more I am thinking in my head "I need to remember this when I'm pregnant and uncomfortable" and "I need to remember this when I'm getting no sleep due to night wakings." It's all something to be cherished...

Margaret, I really hope it works for you this month before you have to pursue more drastic measures and I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Today is CD 11 for me I typically O anywhere from CD 13 to 17. I am going to start POAS today, I buy the internet cheapies so I have lot's to spare!!! I am SO excited to be starting this again, I am sure though by cycle 6 I will not be as excited.....I just have to remember to keep it fun!!! Smile Good luck to everyone!

I had a dream last night I missed O and did an OPK and it was a full on blazing positive so I started freaking out. I did an OPK last night because I thought I had some signs of oing which it is way early for. It was negative in the time frame, but a light line later so I guess I need to watch things early this month.

Hi girls, I am waiting to O as well. We've been trying off/on for…too long to count! Let's see. I was trying for a year when my SIL got pregnant, and now her son is getting ready to turn 1. So - too long! But we're finally starting on Clomid this month so hopefully it happens, I am getting so frustrated at everyone else I know getting preg even though I am super happy for them.

This is month 5 for me, too, and I'm feeling a bit discouraged, too. Actually I feel like you wrote this from my head. Hope you get your BFP! I am still BF'ing DS2 and it might be making my LP shorter than normal. I'm cutting him off next week, though, so if it is the problem, hopefully that will change it. Lately I've been O'ing earlier than I ever did before (CD19), but now I'm at 23 and no O, yet, so maybe I'm getting back to "normal." Oh, let this be the month!

I'm still bfing DS as well. He is a bobie fiend. I am trying to stop the middle of the night feeds with varied success, I have a feeling it will be a long time before he gives up bedtime nursing though

Hi Girls,

I should start AF on Thursday so that would put me at Oing (and doing the trigger shot) around October 29th. This is our 17th cycle. With a few months off here and there for a surgery and recovery. But finally got all of my problems fixed so keeping my fingers crossed. I just bought a pack of 25 cheapies so I can POAS every day starting at 5 DPO...hehe. But nurse wants me to use the more expensive OPK's this time around. The digitals with the smiley faces. She said that it's easier to read than trying to guess if the line is the same color/darker than the control line.

I'm still waiting to O here too. I had a little bit of EWCM today, so here's to hoping it's coming. I'm OPKing twice a day. I got the electronic kind because I drove myself crazy trying to interpret the cheapies last month.

I did the same thing! Winter baby in July? Then I saw you lived in Australia. I wish I could say that we had mild winters....

Hello ladies. I'm just going to jump right in if I may. I'm new to this board, but I've been on pg.org for a few years now. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

A brief intro for me:

This is my first cycle TTC since having my twins in Dec 2010. We tried for about 1 1/2 years for them. Turns out I have PCOS, and DH has lower morphology than what our RE likes to see. After three rounds of injectables +IUI's we were blessed with Alaina and Aiden. We decided to try TTC on our own to start with. If we haven't had any luck by May, we'll go see our RE again.

Believe it or not, this is my first time charting. Long story short, the OB I had before getting pg told me I wouldn't be able to use NFP, so I never looked into it. To be 100% honest, I'm just now starting to understand cf. I had actually asked her about the periodic "discharge" I experienced throughout the month, and she had told me I probably had a high amount of yeast.... REALLY?! Now that I know it's cf, I feel a little dumb. But anyhow.

I am on CD 11. Based on my history, I expect to have long cycles, and to experience many that are anovulatory. I got excited when I took my OPK last night. The line was almost as dark as the control line, so I thought that I was on my way to a +OPK. However, the test line was lighter this morning and nearly non-existent tonight. At first I thought that perhaps I had caught the end of the surge, but seeing as how my CF wasn't anywhere near EWCM, I don't think that's the case.

And in the event anyone wants to follow my chart, I'll go ahead and post it. Since it is my first time charting, I expect to have a lot of questions.

My Ovulation Chart

Well looks like I am right on track, darkening OPK today, should be positive tomorrow. I am cranky enough right now it could be mistaken for PMS, I told everyone I was a bit 'stabby' at work today then I had a phone call that just drove me insane and made me feel really stabby. It's ongoing with that person and they just do not get some things which they should know in their profession and seriously it's not my job to educate them.

Got my happy face on my CBE OPK last night and then I took a Wondfo OPK after and it was super dark!

Last month I never got a super dark +. I didn't have the CBE then. I tested this morning too, but forgot to look at it. Luckily with the CBE I can check tonight to see what the result was.

Even though I'm not technically TTC this month I'm still tracking my cycles for when we do start trying. I'm starting to get the "fever " pretty bad though. We'll see if I can hold out until June-July. I really want a spring baby. I'm thinking about ordering some OPKs so I can further track my cycle. Last AF I was 1 week late which was crazy weird.

Well my OPK yesterday was so close to positive, then today negative so I guess it's go time. Hopefully I can get tonight and tomorrow in for some BDing and then wait it out. If I wanted to tell super early I could really make my Mum's birthday if I get a positive, but last time we told no family until after 8 weeks and we had seen a heart beat.

I only test once a day after work work, so usually around 5:30pm and thats when I always get my positives. Wednesday I came home from work sick and had been drinking tons of water and I tested around 3pm then not again until Thursday 5:30pm so I imagine it would have been a blazing positive if my urine was less diluted and 2 hours later like usual. It really was that close.

I so have my fingers crossed for all you girls!

I don't know what's going on with my body. Sunday I had a temp drop and Monday it was high, so I assumed I o'd but ever since, it's been really low again. Any ideas what, if anything, that means? Now I'm on CD 27, and usually O on day 21 or 22. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's just really late, because DH got home Monday night so we actually could bd this month.

I O'd approximately 1 week late on my last cycle and all my previous cycles since I had DS has been pretty much every 28 days. So it can happen! *FINGERS CROSSED*

AFM- I'm noticing CM changing- thinning out and getting sticky. It is almost O time and so hard to resist catching the egg!

So I decided to not temp this month and just use OPKs but I will be on CD 14 tomorrow and my OPKs are it even getting darker. I usually ovulate by CD 14 or 15. I'm worried because I had some eggwhite cm on CD 9, but thought no way could I be Oing this early and didnt start using OPKs until CD 10. We've DTD on CD10,11 and today. I hope I didn't O on CD 9 or I will be out this month!

Have you ever had EWCM way before O before? I remember a month I had EWCM like 3 or 4 days before O before, so maybe that's what happened? Or is it possible it was your DH "leftovers?" Either way, I hope your not out and you get a nice surprise this month! Smile
