What a day! I showed up with Izzy today for her 18 month appointment only to find that our appointment was somehow scheduled for tomorrow, when we're supposed to be out of town. Our primary doc. was in another clinic today, so we ended up opting to see a different physician (who I'd seen a couple of times while pregnant). Since we were mis-scheduled, we got squeezed in and spent an hour in the waiting room, where I chased Izzy around and she charmed people. By the time we got in it was past her usual nap time, so she was cranky and not wanting anything to do with it. She started crying and saying "no-no-no" as soon as I tried to put her on the scale and it went downhill from there. She was the most upset I've ever seen her after having ears checked, heart listened to, and then receiving her immunizations.
She's built just like her daddy: tall and skinny. She's in the 46th percentile (I think) for weight at 23.5 pounds, and the 95 percentile for height at 2 ft 11 in. Everything looked good, and doc says she seems healthy.
As for life outside of the doctor's office, Izzy has been making leaps and bounds at home. She's really into cruising all over and climbing, and getting into anything she shouldn't! I came to the sad realization this week that she can now reach things I thought were safe on the counter when she found my makeup bag while I was getting dressed the other morning. She was COVERED in eyeshadow and lipstick. She's also getting good at climbing on things. Her new favorite words are "no," "no way," and "help," which are good and bad words. It's good to know when she doesn't want something or can't do it by herself, but she also thinks that those words will get her anything she wants. My little drama queen!
And my Jewelry endeavor hasn't panned out as well as I had hoped. I'm not pushy enough to make it work and to book enough parties, so I think after the end of the year I probably won't pursue it any longer. To help with finances I have started substitute teaching in the area, and MIL or a neighbor watches Izzy on days I sub. It's nice because I don't HAVE to go in every day, and it gives me flexibility to stay home with Izzy when I want to. But, it's also been good for me to have some time out of the house and do (kind of) what I went to school for without all of the time commitments and dealing with parents and politics!
I feel like a broken record, but I promise to try to be more active on the board! I do stop by almost daily to read what others have posted, but find myself needing to scoot along to cook, clean, or help! Hope you are all having a great start to the new year!
