OK, really dumb crawling question...

Do they always go from sitting into a crawl or can they also figure it out from the tummy up? Logan is really trying these days to move while on his tummy- legs in the air, arms pounding the ground! He has army-crawled backwards a couple of times, nothing crazy tho... But, he does seem closer to getting it from tummy position than from leaning forward while sitting... is that normal? LOL... I am so wet behind the ears!

I would say its more normal to go to crawling from lying on their tummy than from sitting...al of mine have...

It takes a bit more to get the legs around from sitting to crawling IYKWIM.....

I don't know what's normal, but Colin leans so far forward, it looks like he's going to topple over and then in the blink of an eye he's laying on the floor waving his legs like a beached whale (sounds like Logan?) - on purpose.

He can only go backwards - he tries to push up with his arms, but doesn't understand how the legs need to come up also, and ends up pushing himself backwards. DD did almost the exact same thing, but she learned quickly how to pull herself forward. She did the commando/army crawl thing for almost 2 months before figuring out the regular hands and knees crawl.

You're wet behind the ears?

Jacob is the opposite he leans forward and gets into crawling position but then after a crawl he flops to the floor and cries. He is not too keen on the crawling he just wants to hold onto my hand and walk or walk with his push along walker.

Haha... yeah, I feel like such a newbie to this whole thing.. I could probably ask 10 questions a day if I really wanted to! LOL!...

Colin and Logan sound like they are pretty similar right now! He is not going back too often, just sorta lays there on his tummy stuck, with legs in the air and arms flailing- making these hillarious grunting noises.. he tries SO hard to move but just cant...hahaha...

Both my boys were able to go from sitting to a crawling position before they crawled. I think it's mainly because they started sitting around 5-6 months. I'm sure it doesn't matter which they can do first to figure out crawling.
