So we had our big road trip this past weekend. We left Thursday and returned home yesterday. Round trip we drove 1400km (875 miles) broken up over 4 days. We drove approximately 4 1/2 hours each day and stopped a couple of times each day.
The purpose of our trip was to attend a good friend's wedding. DH and DD were both in the wedding. I was super nervous about the car trip as any long trips with DD (pre-Colin) I was able to sit in the back seat. This time I had to sit in the front seat because we drive a small car and there's not enough room for 2 carseats plus me.
All 4 days of driving we left around 9:30am (that seemed to be the earliest we could actually leave), Colin napped until around 11am, we'd stop for lunch and drive until around 3pm. The second leg of each day (after lunch) was the worst for Colin. He got tired of being in the car, bored, and hot (we finally got some nice weather and Colin always seemed to be on the side of the car with the sun).
Here are some pics for you:
1st pit stop:
Our family in front of the "Big Nickel" - a Canadian "attraction". Note the umbrella stroller - I went with the cheap $20 version and it was a lifesaver. Best $20 I've spent in a long time!
Colin HATED the jarred food that I brought for him. He only gets homemade purees at home and jarred food is just not the same. On a positive note, the small fold-up high chair came in really handy!
Georgia and I all dressed up. I was inspired by Nat (zobi) to get my hair done and wear a REAL bra for the day. Oh, and 3 inch heels which I was totally not used to!
Georgia did amazingly walking down the aisle. I was SO proud of her!
This was the best family pic we could get on the wedding day. My sister came with us to be Colin's "nanny" for the weekend. She spent the day with him but brought him just after the ceremony in order to follow us to the pictures for me to bf him. It got a little complicated, and poor Colin was not a happy camper when I left him. He was totally out of sorts that day. Throughout the entire trip he hardly nursed during the day - was way too distracted most of the time. This worked in my favour when I needed to pump! My sister gave him a bottle of pumped bm and put him to bed and he went to sleep *relatively* easily. I unfortunately forgot to pump that night before bed and was SO engorged/leaky! whoops!

The kids in the backseat on the way home. DD enjoyed watching every princess movie imaginable on the trip!
