Umbrella Stroller Dilemma

We are going on a road trip over Mother's Day weekend (9 hours+ of driving over 2 days for a wedding then driving home the day after the wedding...fun yay).

We'll need to bring a stroller with us because well Colin will be 9 months old and we'll just need one to transport him from the car to various places. I have a Phil & Ted's which isn't exactly compact when we've got to pack for 2 kids, 2 adults and have a small hatchback car. So, I've been trying to figure out what to do in the stroller department.

We could go with a super cheap $20 stroller or spend more (ie. $140 or so) or a decent umbrella stroller. We are already spending SO much on this stupid wedding (I would much rather take off to a hot tropical island for a week than drive 9 hours into the bush) and I don't really want to spend the money, but I don't know if Colin is old enough for one of those little "disposable" strollers? I saw one by UppaBaby that's around $130, but I don't know how much use I'd get out of it?

Anyone have any suggestions? Do you have a decent, moderately priced umbrella stroller?

We have a super cheap one from Walmart- I think it was only $15. It works great when I don't want to use the big stroller or if DS1 can just walk. I wouldn't spend a lot if you don't plan on using it often.

No suggestions... but love your comment about "into the bush" that made me giggle and I dont know why! ha!

Oh edit... I was recently looking at the Joovy Kooper stroller. To me its a bigger version of an umbrella. I saw another mom with her LO in one and the baby looked so comfy in it. My GF loves her Joovy so I am leaning towards that one personally.

I wish I could be of some help. I am looking for an umbrella stroller too, and keep lusting after the Mamas & Papas trip stroller, but don't know if I should spend that much money, or if I would be just as good with a cheaper stroller! Ahh... decisions, decisions...

I'd just get a cheapie if you aren't going to use it much!
I bought a cheap chicco one to help me in the airport with Nate last year when I was traveling and to use while I was there, because I didn't want to to risk having my main one damaged, plus its a bit bigger and bulkier! I also thought it would be good to have as a spare or to use if we wanted to push both kids in strollers. But pretty much since I came back from that trip its been sat in the corner in my dining room collecting dust!
I think you should be fine for an umbrella stroller at 9 months.

Get a cheepie!!! They are just as good and since you will only use it on holiday or shopping trips that's all you need.

I looked but didn't see any umbrella's. I'll keep checking there.

Thanks for all of the suggestions Smile

...and yes Sara we are literally going into the bush. For 4 hours of the drive there are no towns just forest. I see trees being peed on in my future (DD not me, I think I can hold it)!! lol.
