Is anyone struggling with it atm?

Leia has become so p*ssy lately and I'm not coping very well with it. If she doesn't get what she wants she shouts, throws whatever is nearest to her and constantly whinges Sad It is so draining and I usually put it down to her being tired, but I can't use that excuse forever!!

Kade is finally coming OUT of some of his naughty behaviors, but he is a very defiant little boy. Totally tests my patience!

How do you deal with it?

I try my best to ignore it and use time out but it can be hard when her Dad loses his patience so easily. I know that might sound silly, but once one of us goes so does the other!

Time outs (often for me, not him). Changing the activity, often he is most pushing my buttons when I forget that he is an active 4 year old with no attention span... so getting out and going for a walk, turning up the music for a crazy dance in the kitchen, or letting him "help me" with something will change it up enough to break him out of his defiance for the moment.

I am also very clear with my expectations. "Nice big brothers share with their siblings" "Big boys use their words instead of hitting" "It is not okay to speak to me like that, you will use kind words." etc. Then praise him like crazy when he does what I want him to.

Thomas is much more mouthy with me than daddy. He yells at me when it's time to brush teeth or clean up. It's usually when he's tired. If DH is home I sometimes just let him deal with it, especially since I have very little patience these days. I try to stay calm, and repeat my instructions. The funny thing is when he tries it on me, "Mommy, you have two choices..." It makes me laugh. He really is a good boy, we're very lucky.
