    Default School

Have you chosen the school you want your little one to attend? Have they been accepted? When will they start?

Leia got accepted to my old primary school..... she will be starting the pre school on Sept 12th and her taster day is June 27th!!! She won't even be 3 yet

I have to get her a uniform which will be a blue sweater with the school logo and black trousers, black piniform dress and a black skirt.

I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast!!!

Callie will likely go to the school I work at, however, we don't accept kids until they are 4 or 5. To get in at age 4, you have to qualify based on income, and DH and I most likely won't.. so I don't have to worry about it until she's 5.

How come it goes on income Lisa? I thought all kids got to go to school regardless or is it just that particular school?

We only have one preschool class, and it's based on socioeconomic status.. aka, yours has to be pretty low to qualify. In Kindergarten, EVERYONE gets in

Kristi: US law requires kids ages 6-16 enrolled in some type of school (or homeschool). Kindergarten (starting at age 5) might be full day or haf day depending on the districts funding and it may or may not be frer. Preschool is available, but is almost never free unless your child is "at risk". Full-time preschool costs anywhere from $500-$1500 per month where I live.

Kade and Bentli will go to a childcare provider or center, but unfortunately it will be almost entirely based on cost, since our budget is very tight.

Nate already goes to preschool. He's gone since September. And he goes 2 mornings a week and am adding an afternoon in September. Which is all they do at this one, 3 sessions. I am going to pick his regular school in September and will find out in April whether or not he gets in for Sept 2012. I have to pick my top 3 and hope he gets in one! All the schools are over subscribed here! The preschool he goes to isn't affiliated with a regular school. And even if I got him in one that was, it wouldn't guarantee he'd get a place for reception when he's 4. Blah!!! Just a big old waiting game with fingers crossed I guess!

Thomas started in a 2 year old class at a child-care center in February. He'll stay there through Pre-K. In Florida, we have a free Pre-K program- open to anyone and everyone. It's a half-day program, so I'll have to pay for wrap-around care. Once he starts kindergarten, he'll go to our neighborhood school. I could choose to bring him with me to my school, but I would rather have him be friends with kids from our neighborhood. Plus, he won't be a "teacher's kid" at his school. I think it'll be best for us, but a lot of teachers at my school choose to bring their own children there.

Both of my boys go to a child development center/preschool and they will remain here until kindergarten. J's been going to this school since he was 6 months old. J is getting ready to transition into the 3 year old class July 1st.

My kids go to a home based daycare and will until they are 4. Here in Ontario we have full day kindergarten starting at age 4, so we have another year until Alicia goes and 2 more until DJ goes. I cannot believe I will be registering Alicia for full-time school in a year!
