Thread: Starting school - updates anyone?

Hey ladies

So have/are your LOs starting school? Are/were they excited? How did it go?

Leia starts her first proper year on Sept 6th and she cannot wait! I can't either as it means no nursery fees woooo haha.

On another note, her nursery teacher who taught pre school is under investigation for indecency towards the children and posessing indecent images I'm just waiting for Leia to be interviewed by the police. It's been a horrible situation to be in but I'm sure we'll get through it!

Oh my God! I pray that nothing happened to your daughter and I pray for all the children it did happen to How does anyone know who to trust anymore?????

It's an exciting time of year that's for sure! Jack has been asking to go to school since the beginning of last year, crying when we dropped his older brother off, crying when the neighbour girl got on the bus and he didn't get to go with her. He has a "meet the teacher" this friday and his first official day is Sep 11th. Full day/everyday here we come!

That really is horrific about her teacher! Belch!

Nate starts on Monday. His teacher came for a home visit today. He is excited!

Nate started today and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! He can't wait to go back tomorrow. He said we had to hurry up and eat dinner so he could go to bed and be ready for big school again tomorrow!

I'm glad Nate is loving school. Leia is too but she's a tired madam when I pick her up which is hard work for me! lol.

Hey ladies! Grace started on Aug 20th. FL starts early for some reason. She loves it! I'm "room parent" for her class so Ben & I get to visit often and help out. She also joined a soccer team and is taking 3 dance classes. Ballet, Tap and Hi Hop. She is growing up way too fast.

Is Grace in Pre-K then?

Nate's school was on lock down when I went to pick him up today. Talk about freaking scary! And other than the head teacher coming out and telling us that the kids were safe and the police were looking for someone, I've got no idea what happened. It was a scary 20 mins!

what the Beep was up with the lockdown?

Alicia started junior kindergarten on Sept 10, half day everyday. DJ started preschool the same time, for the same schedule. So DH is a stay-at-home dad with no kids in the mornings! They are both enjoying school and I think DH is enjoying his down time more than the kids enjoy school!

There was some crazy lady who was flashing a knife at a store half a mile from the school (that I walked past with Alice!) and she threatened to go stab a woman, whom she had issues with, as she came out of the school with her kids. Thankfully they caught her long before that happened!

What the heck is wrong with the world and the people on it??? Thank god you missed all that Sara!

Nothing to report as of right now. The trial starts on the 28th and I am attending with a few other parents. DD still hasn't been spoken to yet which I'm a little miffed at. Although I don't think she was affected by any of it, I still would like to know for sure!

So, can someone explain to me how many years are in elementary school in the US? Here it's reception (first year) and then years 1-6 before they go to high school.
