Hailey has Roseola

So for about 5 days Hailey had a fever and some mild diarrhea and was SUPER cranky, so I just gave her some advil thinking it was her teeth.. but then yesterday she woke up with a rash all over her! So I took her to the doctor, and it turns out with wasn't teething at all, she has roseola. Poor kid, can't catch a break! I was just wondering if anyone else's kids ever had this before? The doc gave her antibiotics, but everything I've googled about it says it's viral, so I'm questioning whether or not she actually needs the meds. She been on antibiotics pretty much the whole summer for ear infections, so if I can avoid giving them to her I will!

Never had and it is viral, antibiotics are a waste. I hope she feels better. Make sure to contact her daycare though, in case anyone else comes down with it.

I sent you a message on FB because I couldn't sign in here this morning. Yes, it's viral so antibiotics won't help.

Yikes! Feel better, Hailey! Definitely don't over-antibiotic her. Good call!

A had it too a few months ago. It was bad. We went to the dr at the beginning of it when she had a fever and was acting horrible. I thought it was an ear infection/teething. They didn't give her anything b/c they couldn't figure out what it was. After about 4/5 days she got the slight rash, so I "diagnosed" it Smile No antibiotics needed.

:lurk:

I'm 99% certain my DD had it about a month ago. She had a high fever (~102) that tylenol wouldn't touch for about 4 days. I called the doc on day four and he said I could bring her in "if I wanted to." I knew that was code for "if it'll make YOU feel better." The fever broke on day five and then the slight rash appeared a few days later. I self-diagnosed. Definitely viral. Once the fever is gone the infection is pretty much good and done with anyway.

Ian had it once. Good news is once the rash hits, it's pretty much over.

It is viral. Don't give antibiotics!! Morgan had it about a month ago and my other two had it when they were little. The fever was brutal (104). But by the time the rash comes, it is the end if it. Hope she is feeling better Smile

Just an update.. Hailey is fine now. I only gave her the antibiotics for a day and then decided that she didn't need it. She's back to her normal happy self again. Smile
