Addy is getting really aggressive with pinching and hitting, and even occasionally biting. It’s mostly just me, very rarely DH. Never anyone else--yet. She seems to do it when she’s either bored, mad, or generally overexcited. I usually say very loudly/sternly “Ouch! No! That hurts me. Be gentle.” And show her a nicer way to touch. If she does it again (which she usually does) then I put her down and ignore her for a minute. I don’t know if my strategy is working, though. I think she’s doing it FOR the reaction (judging by the look on her face and the very deliberate way she does it). So I almost want to skip straight to just putting her down, but it feels wrong to just ignore something like that with no correction at all, other than the ignoring itself being a correction, of course. I just don’t know, and I don’t want to get any calls from her school, if you know what I mean!
Anybody been through this? Any words of wisdom??
