Rash

I just wondered if any of you might know what this is before we perhaps do a doctor trip tomorrow. Ivor has a few red spots under his hair. He doesn't have much hair so it's easy to see. They are all around the back of his head, and are just small red spots, slightly raised. They don't seem to be bothering him. I've had a few bites myself recently but mine are itchy and I've scratched them and they are much bigger. I think mine are the famous Scottish midge, or possibly small spider bites.

Any ideas? I may try and get a photo if he will keep still.

Hmmm... what is the weather like where you live? Could it be just a heat rash?! Does he have a fever, or any other symptoms? I know measles is generally a rash around the ears/head/neck area, but that would definitley be accompanied by a fever, along with other symptoms.

He's got a bit of a cold, a snuffle and runny nose, no fever, good appetite still. He seems well in himself. The weather isn't hot enough for heat rash at the moment though. Unusually, he had a bit of the runs in the week, but his digestion seems to be back to normal the last couple of days. It's all on the crown of his head that the spots are, like where he would lie on it if he was lying on his back. They are not glaringly obvious but if you see them in the right light they are there, and they are a bit raised.

Hope it's not measles... worrying now Sad

Hm--I don't know, but Addy has a rash on her belly that is just very small red spots in a small area. Just saw it yesterday.....

All fine here, probably a small viral infection and/or insect bites. The doc checked him all over and everything is well with him. He was also all over the office pointing at stuff and chatting. Having a good sleep now, and I'm in two minds, wake him up so he goes to bed easier later, or enjoy the peace. Hmmm.

I did weigh him while we were there and he is about 10kg or 22lbs. I was a bit surprised as I expected him to be a bit heavier having been 8lbs 15 at birth. Does this seem ok?

Glad you got a good report from the doctor. I forgot to post, but what you described sounded similar to a viral rash DS had before. I think 22 pounds sounds on cue... I learned from Ainsley that birth weight doesn't seem to have a huge effect on their size over time. Ainsley was huge (over 10 lbs) when she was born, and now she's a tiny. She still wears 9 months size clothing most of the time. I'm guessing she probably weighs around 20 lbs.
Ivor seems very healthy. Smile

Glad it's no big deal! I think 22 pounds sounds totally reasonable too. Addy was 8lbs at birth, and I think she's probably about 20 and change now.
