38 Week Appointment

Had my 38 week appointment yesterday, and it was pretty uneventful! BP was 108/68, urine good, baby's HR in the 140's, weight still climbing due to all the swelling! I hate swelling!

Anyhow, I had my first check, and I am 1 cm and ~60% effaced! So, nothing huge, but at least it's something! I know it means absolutely nothing, really, but I'm glad to know things are starting on their own, being that I'm a VBAC and can't be induced! I spotted (looked like bloody show/pieces of my plug, actually) most of the day and had some cervical pain and stuff afterwards, so I seriously am considering that being my last check. Ugh, that was not fun! I did not like the spotting and cramping all day, either!

So yeah, there's my update. Wink

Glad you had a good appointment!! Well minus the cramping/spotting, that's not fun at all.

Is your doctor not at all OK with induction? I think we might have talked about this but not sure. How long will they let you go?

Mine is letting me go to 41 weeks and will do a very low-pitocin drip since I'm already dilated to a 3 and effaced. However, they can't turn up past a certain %/# because of the rupture risk. But that is the extent of the "induction". Hopefully we both have successful VBAC's...actually no hoping, WE WILL Smile

Sounds great! I always get really crampy after they check me... I was actually a big crank because of it last night, but with the show/plug, maybe you're close to delivery (closer than 2 weeks i guess).

Rebecca - Actually, my doc yesterday told me they will NOT use any of the gels, but would use pit very minimally. I'm kind of a spaz about the whole rupture thing, though, and would most likely decline that, too. And same as you, they'll let me go to 41! I don't really expect to go that long, though! Yes, we WILL have successful VBAC's! Biggrin

Lexi - Do you think it counts as bloody show when it's immediately after a check? I was all paranoid she sent me into labor! Lol It stopped around dinnertime and I haven't seen anything since. I wonder if that will mean anything in the next few days or not?!

I hear you on the rupture risk; but I remind myself that it is still minimal AND I will already be at the hospital, so if it were to happen it would be a quick trip to the OR. Although totally not an ideal situation, I'd rather do pit then auto-section because I am post-dates.

That's exactly what happened after I was checked last week!! Cramps, spotting and plug then everything just stopped after a day or two! I'm not getting checked again until it's "go time."
I'm glad your appointment went well except for the crampies afterwards. Smile
