anyone else having gas/constipation issues. tmi

just curious how many of us are being troubled with constipation so far as well as the gas cramps that go with it. i am a day shy of 11 weeks and just wondering ways to deal with this.

had not even realized i've went almost a week without going to the bathroom till yesterday...mind you i have upped my iron intake im sure theres something i can alleviate this just not sure whats safe. ive read the reccomendations from the obgyn and it says to try colace but where do most places sell this? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The best thing you can do is up your fruit intake esp. apples, prunes, melon. Eat broccoli, carrots, cucumbers. Benefiber is good stuff. I would say eat more beans but it certainly hasn't helped my gassiness one bit Wink

I bought Walgreens brand stool softeners (says on the label it's the same as Colace, but half, maybe even less, the price). They are safe to take. I got a 'roid with my last pregnancy, and it's not something I want to repeat, so I'll take stool softeners every day if I have to. Obvs upping water intake and fiber intake is important too...but during pregnancy there are more factors at work, and even with a good diet, you could face issues.

Yes and yes. It's mortifying. I didn't have these issues with my first pregnancy- exact opposite, actually. Prune juice helps, I've been munching raw carrots and eating double fiber bread. It's all pretty annoying Sad

i know the feeling, annoying and mortifying....good to report some of this has cleared but not all. at least this is bearable now. you all might get a laugh out of this. took a stool softner like mara recommended and got called into work later on tonight. im praying this is run its course by midnight or its gonna be a very interesting night for me since i have no choice of having to work tonight. my boss wanted me to come in at 10 but agreed on midnight after i told her why. lol. think she was more embarrassed than me. lmao. least there was a little humor to all this. lol.
