Breastfeeding Mama's

How's nursing going? How often does the babe nurse (day/night)?

It's been easier this time, probably because I've been thru it before. My nipples are still a little tender, though. Abram is super aggressive. He nurses every 2-3 hours, rarely will he go over 3 hours. Engorgement is killer this time, right about an hour after he nurses I am completely full again. He gained 1 pound in a WEEK, when we went for his check-up. So must be some good milk Smile

We nurse every 2-3 hours, never longer. It's more difficult this time as Lily is a super aggressive sucker with a small mouth. But it's getting easier.

Nursing is going great for us! Zintis gained 1lb and 2oz in 10 days between his two appts- he weighs 10lbs now!

Although I had next to no troubles with nursing Beni, I've had even less this time. My nips were sore for about a week or two with her, and this time it was maybe for a day or two. I've had VERY little engorgement, and when it does happen- Beni takes care of it super quick. Smile The weirdest thing- I'm not leaking at all this time- and I always leaked with Beni. I would let down on both sides every time she nursed, and had to wear pads all the time, because I leaked randomly too. I haven't worn a breast pad yet this time! The only thing I can assume is that the fact that Beni is still nursing has made all this difference. It's great though! Smile

Now the only thing I gotta get a handle on, is that Z keeps having some random green poops, which I'm assuming is happening when he's getting too much foremilk. But, it's not every poop, so I'm not even THAT worried about it.

Oh, and Z's schedule seems to be every 1-3 hours during the day, cluster feed at night (like from 9pm-12am), and then every couple hours between 12 and 9am, I think. I'm really bad about knowing about the night time feeds though, because we co-sleep and I barely wake up to feed him. Smile In any case, I feed him on demand, and I don't worry about the clock pretty much at all. Smile

Nursing is going well here. My nipples are SOOOO sore, but that happened the last 2 times too. I cringe for a good 30 seconds each time she latches. She has a correct latch and I use nipple cream each time, but they are still so painful and cracked and bleeding. I think it lasted about 2 weeks last time until they "toughened" up. Smile My milk just came in yesterday and miss cora is seeming more satisfied now. She has been nursing about every 1-3 hrs...of course the 3 hr stretches have not been at night yet, just during the day.

jaydens doing good bfing...about every two hours i would say. his first appt about a week ago he weighed 5 lbs 13 or 14 oz today at his appt weighted 6 lbs 10 oz. so he is doing good too. bfing is going good for me. have to actually nurse him now, gets finicky over bottles which no biggie, but i do have a little bit stored in the freezer for when we go on a trip or out in public. all and all bfing-easy!

This is my first time bfeeding and it is way easier than I thought it would be. Probably because this time around I am much more patient and determined.

Wesley nurses every 2-3 hours and at night, about 4 to 4.5 hours. He only cries when he is hungry which is a great thing when DH is not here and managing two additional little ones on my own.

He was 5lbs, 12oz when born and dropped to 5lbs, 1oz. Then...in just 5 days, he gained all the way up to 5lbs, 13oz! Now, at almost three weeks, he weighs 6lbs, 5oz! So, the milk is doing him good!

So far I have only pumped twice on one side to relieve engorgement but exclusively bfeeding...no bottles here yet. That will come when I go back to work during the day. I want to master this and ensure that my supply is plentiful!

Thanks, Mara. It is such a blessing to be able to do this! I can't believe I missed out on this bonding experience! I love it! Plus, obviously, the health benefits are the best! I refuse to give up!
