Constant BH contractions... I think

I didnt have these with DS... not until 2-3 days before I had him. I am having them 24 hours a day any where from 10 mins to 40 mins apart. Not consistant and not painful usually. My lower back hurts and I feel like i am going to start my period. Its been over 5 years! I dunno whats going on. I was 1.5cm dialated Tuesday at my 36 week appointment. Is this normal for a 2nd pregnancy or is this "early" labor?

Hmmm....I hope some BTDT mamas have some answers for you... I know for me, once I was having back pain/crampiness that reminded me of a period, I was in labor. I haven't had anything like that yet at this point. I get a LOT of BHs too... but they don't hurt, and they are not close enough to time.

I hope you can get some reassurance- and if anything, can you get back to your doc for some monitoring??

I'm in the same boat too as of today! Ever since I got a cervix check this morning at my doctors appointment, I've been having constant contractions! Ugh!
But if you're already dilated a bit, I'd drink a bunch of water, rest, and if they don't stop, time for an hour then call your doctor. Couldn't hurt.

Ditto to this advice. My doctor gets more concerned when I feel crampy along with contracting. I definitely say to always be on the safe side and call when in doubt. Please, KUP!

I wrote a reply and some how didn't post it....

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on things tonight and call first thing in the morning, unless they become painful and/or more frequent. When I saw my Dr Tuesday he told me to call if they are 5 mins apart, bleeding, baby not moving and/or if I thought my water had broken.

DH is a little concerned, this is his first. I would like this little guy to cook longer, I have plans Saturday and Sunday :).

I have had painful, crampy, contractions since about 30 weeks. I get them when I'm dehydrated and on my feel for a long time (after clinical mostly). I put myself on bed rest for an hour and drink a lot of water and they usually go away. I just randomly get really painful contractions (maybe a few a day) that I have to stop what I'm doing and breathe through them. I mentioned it to my Dr. and she didn't seem overly concerned with it. They definitely don't remind me of my labor contractions bc those came on hard/fast/regular from the get-go. Definitely call if you're concerned though! Better to be on the safe side.

As for your post disappearing... sometimes (almost EVERY time), I reclick on the purple reply to thread button instead of post quick reply and it erases my WHOLE post. Very frustrating. Maybe that's what happened.

How are you feeling this morning?

I agree with Mara, when I had back pain (I had back labor with DS) is when I was in labor. I also was on bedrest with DS from 31 weeks until I had him at 36 weeks due to tons and tons of BH's that had dilated me to .5 cm and thinned me out significantly.

I say if you're still feeling this way today to at least get in and get checked! Sometimes it means progress and sometimes it doesn't! I'd rather know than go around the whole weekend guessing! And at least if you went in today you could go to the office vs. schlepping to L&D over the weekend.

KUP!

Yea I'd keep an eye on them. My doc says to put my feet up if I have more than 6 an hour and drink a ton of water. If that doesn't help without 2 more hours then I need to go in. KUP

I am still having them today. For a few hours they were pretty consistant at 10 mins apart... they still are on and off. Called my dr, waiting for a call back. I think I am just going to ride them out. I have track practice today, its one of our last for middle school. We'll see how that goes. I will keep you updated for sure!

Another update... a boring one... The contractions went away for the most part. I am curious if all those changed my cervix at all. I have a dr's appointment Tuesday! happy mothers day everyone!
