Falling asleep at the breast... NOT

Sooo many books I read all give advice about how to keep your LO from falling asleep at the boob. My DD rarely falls asleep on the boob (like maybe once over a 24 hour period), there is no advice for that one. Most of the time it is not a problem. During the day I can rock her to sleep, engage her in her awake time, or put her in a sling and that usually does the trick to get her to sleep. BUT at night it is not so fun. Our feeding times (or rather her awake times) are lasting anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours. She is doing anywhere from 2-4 hour sleeping stretches, but still the nights are hard.

That is horrible. Have you tried cutting out caffeine and/or sugar in the afternoons? And feeding her in the dark and swaddling so she knows it's nighttime? Tried a noise machine?
