gotta vent!!!

so just when i think i've heard or seen it all, yet another expierence to add to the books. i went to see the nutritionist so jayden could be put on formula & most of all so i could save money by not buying it of all things said jayden was eating too much and his weight gain since birth should of been a little questionable.

as we all know jayden weighed 5lbs 11ozs when he came out and was a full term baby...and when i took him in earlier this week he weighed in at 8lbs 13ozs. and this was after his 1 month old ped visit, & which suprise suprise his peditrician said his growth was excellent. i voiced my concerns about jayden not taking the boob so we both decided straight formula.

anyhow, i told this lady i as well as forhe doctor was satisfied with his growth, i appreciated her advice and would keep it in mind but sticking with what me and his pedritrician discussed. so after that i got the whole lecture as if i didn't know whats best for my kiddo...and after her telling me i needed to lose weight ugh i just nodded to get out of there. if it wasn't for the fact i could get all of jaydens formula scott free, i would've been a tad more vocal.

i mean heck i think jayden is just catching up...and as for me, i'm down to123lb. that's skinny enough. i understand some babies do get overfed but i think we all have the mommy's intutition to do what's best for our kid, also know when theres something wrong. i told dh about this and told me he agreed but thought i was a little hormonal over it. hmm, would you all been offended? of course gotta post a pic of my little man!!!

His growth sounds about right to me! I'm confused, was he already on formula before this happened? If he gained that much just nursing, I definitely would not worry about it. It is basically impossible to over-breastfeed a baby. In any case though, he doesn't sound too big at all and I would just listen to your ped. Sometimes people just like to hear themselves talk and lecture other people about things. And she told you to lose weight and you are 123 lbs??!! She is crazy. Unless you are like 4 feet tall, you definitely don't need to worry about that!

i came to breastfeed after i came home from the hospital. so it was a couple of days after i was only giving him formula. the plan was to wean him off formula to breast only. he latched at first but i know i wasnt producing enough breast milk for him. he would cry nonstop, literally was only content gave him formula so i did both for a little while. i probably gave up on it too soon but he did way better on formula so i stuck with that.

oh yeah when the lady told me i neis eded to lose weight...i rolled my eyes. i'm 5'6 so anything under 123 unhealthy. oh well chalking it up and ignoring the whole day i had last week.

I agree that he looks great and I wouldn't worry about it especially if your pediatrician isn't. DD was born at 5 lbs 5 oz and while she was BF'd she gained a ton of weight in her first few months. I took her to a bfing support group and by a month old she was 7 and a half pounds. I believe she was only 2 or 3 months old by the time she hit the 9 lb mark.

That woman sounds ludicrous and who tells a new mom of a month old to lose weight? Your son is so handsome. Glad to hear all is well besides this freak visit.

I'm assuming you went to WIC. I hear stories like this all the time about WIC offices. I'm lucky because this new office we are going to is AWESOME and she didn't tell my fat butt to lose weight or lecture us at all, but the WIC office we used with DD was definitely not that nice. I'd just forget it, you know what's going on and obviously Jayden isn't in bad health. I mean, if that was the case then Lucas is way over-fed... he has gained 6 lbs in 11 weeks.;)
