Last appt with this doc here in Laos!

I went in today for my last appt here! Mostly everything looks good... BP was like 115/74- higher than it ever was with DD, but I guess still ok. I'm up another 1.5lbs- at this rate I'm going to gain more weight than I did with DD, but of course, I'm hoping that at some point I'll slow down, maybe. Wink Unfortunately, with DD, I gained fast right at the end, so I'm not holding my breath. Oh well. Actually, that isn't completely true... I'm comparing where I am weight wise to where I was weight wise with DD, but, I started this pregnancy off 10-15lbs heavier than I did hers. So technically, I've gained a lot less this time- but, I can't imagine gaining the same 35lbs this time as I did last time, because that would put me at a number on the scale that sort of horrifies me. Sigh.

Doc said baby is DEFINITELY head down, which makes me very happy. Now to just keep him/her there! We listened to the heartbeat, which wasn't that easy, because baby kept moving and kicking/punching at the doppler....but it sounded nice and strong. Smile Love that sound. I'm now measuring 32 weeks (I'm 28- almost 29 I guess). That said, this doc, the only thing she doesn't seem to do as accurately as the other doc at this clinic is that measurement. I always measure big with her, and I was always spot on with the guy. So who knows. I guess we'll see what my midwife says when I see her.

The doc wants me to come back to pee in a cup again toward the end of the week, because for the second appt in a row, I'm showing some tiny sign of infection in my urine. White blood cells or whatever. She asked me if I've been feeling at all like I have an infection, and of course I said no, but on the way home I remembered that I was kind of thinking I might have a small yeast infection a couple weeks ago- I was very itchy every time I wiped after peeing. So, I'll go back on Thursday or Friday and see what they say, but, if it comes up positive again, I'll mention that.

Otherwise, I got my letter to present at check-in, saying I'm safe to fly, and I got my referral for chiropractic care, and a copy of my records for my midwife. So I'm all set!

DD and I fly out on Saturday night local time, and arrive in Chicago Sunday morning local time- too bad it's not really that short a flight! It's about 24 hours of travel time, but over 12 time zones, so it seems shorter to those that don't have to experience it. Wink Can't believe I'll finally be settling into the States and appts with my midwife, etc, etc next week! Yay!

Anyway...that's what's going on with me! Sorry for the novel!

I'm glad to hear you had a mostly positive appointment. You must be a bundle of nerves with the big move coming up! I'm sure it's exciting and scary at the same time.

I wish you good luck with your travels. Bring movies and TV shows and stickers for your daughter. I hope the traveling flies by. It's tough with a toddler solo, and I've done it several times.

Thanks everyone!

Jubilee, I am very nervous about this flight. DD has flown LOTS of times (the girl's been on 5 continents), but, I have never flown alone with her, and obviously, she is ever-older. I just pray we get a bulk head (thankfully she will have her own seat), and yeah, I'm going to come prepared with surprise, new books, lots of snacks and I think I'm even going to do an ipod full of Dora.

Yay, Mara! I'm so excited for your upcoming adventure. I'm glad baby is doing well and that you are feeling good, too. Everything will go really well-- and you'll be relieved to be back in Michigan soon. I grew up in NW Indiana and can say that I do miss the greenness of spring in the Midwest....enjoy!

I hope you don't have a yeastie. Some leukocytes in your urine with no symptoms may just mean you got a bit of cervical fluid in with your specimen check. Make sure you wipe well before your sample, pee a bit in the toilet and then stop, and catch the midstream urine and then finish in the pot. Otherwise that extra CM could throw off the test. Wink

I'll think calm thoughts for you and dd for the big trip. I'm sure it will go well! I can't believe we are in our third trimesters already.....oy!

That's what we do- tons of Dora from i-tunes. It makes me cringe a little, and I worry about all that TV watching, but you do what you have to in airplanes! Smile

Doc did say something along those lines- thanks for the advice. I'll try to do a very "clean catch" on Friday when I take another sample in!

As for spring in the midwest... I'm feeling quite disappointed! In Laos, we are at near 100F temps every day right now, and I am SO craving some cold. Like I could seriously go for some 50s and 60s...I am so sick of sweating and just sitting inside with the air on. Yesterday, everyone back home was posting on FB that it hit 86F and they were turning the air on!!! Sad I was really hoping for a SLOW spring in Michigan...not instant summer! But the forecast for the weekend shows 50s and 60s and rain...maybe it will cool down still. I guess we'll see.

Well, turns out Monday's visit wasn't my last one with the doc! I had to go today to at least drop off the pee for another urine test- but, this week I had two incidents of feeling like I'd either peed my pants without noticing (more like leaked urine, just not quite palm sized wet spots, not like pants totally wet), or I was terrified I was leaking amniotic fluid.

So, I went in this afternoon- good news is my pee came back totally clean- no leukocytes, or anything else. Yay! When I told the doc about the whole wetness thing, she called the ultrasound tech to come in and give me a quick once-over. Apparently the guy is good at what he does, but he SUCKS for bedside manner. He didn't talk to me at all, and didn't turn the screen even once for me to see the baby. Sad I was just writing on my blog that apparently this baby just does not want to be seen this pregnancy- we really haven't gotten a single good look at him/her in three ultrasounds! Oh well. Anyway... the good news again is that my amniotic fluid is fine and my cervix is fine too. So doc concluded I'm not leaking. Yay.

Bad news... baby is breech. I'm trying to figure out if s/he is flipping quite regularly, or if those "hiccups" I was so sure I was feeling could POSSIBLY be super rhythmic kicks. I just don't know. Sometimes I feel quite big movements...but I have no idea if they are big enough to be flipping head over heels. Anyway... I'm bummed baby isn't head down... but, I also know I have PLENTY of time now to work with baby/talk with baby/do whatever I need to do to get him/her head down.

The last piece of information that was interesting to receive is that apparently according to the ultrasound, baby is already measuring 31 weeks (I'm 29). Doc said, "Be prepared for this baby to be born early..." I said, "Ultrasounds are notorious for being wrong about size!" My DH flies into the country 10 days before this baby's EDD, so, that is as early as s/he is allowed to be born! Smile DD was born on 39+2, so hopefully this baby will just slow down on the growing, and be cool until his/her dad is around. Smile Of course it would't be the end of the world if DH missed the birth, but, I would be REALLY sad for him- he is not the kind of guy that would handle that well.

Anyway...so I'm officially all set to fly TOMORROW! I can't believe it! I'm getting my nails done and having a short massage in the morning, then going to my nephew's first birthday party in the afternoon, and then we fly out at 10pm! It's going to be a busy day, but I hope wearing DD out means she'll sleep on the flights a lot. Smile Oh, a mom can hope. Smile
