low lying placentas?

since i am new to being pregnant i was told monday at my gender scan that i have a low lying placenta. although my dr and the whole drs office agreed that my cervix is definitely competent of carrying a baby and i pose no real risks with this at all, has anyone expierenced this in their past? i know everything will be ok and was basically told not to have rough kinky sex & that they would monitor me in a couple of weeks to see how things are, just moreless curious persay if i do and things remain the same, will i be opted for ceserian birth? any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

It is not uncommon for the placenta to be low lying at this point...the fact that it is only being called low lying rather than partial previa or complete previa is good. It needs to be a certain measurement (and I can not remember what that is) away from the cervix to be safe for vaginal delivery. BUT placentas often times move up!! I have had complete previa at my anatomy scan and partial previa at my anatomy scan and low lying placenta at my anatomy scan...and (knock on wood) they have ALWAYS moved up...and been totally out of the way to allow a vaginal delivery! Gl!

This happened with my first pregnancy. It was full on previa. By the third trimester my placenta moved up high and I could have sex. At least you aren't on a sex rest. I bet your placenta will move up the bigger your baby gets. Don't worry! I had a safe vaginal birth and everything in the end.
