So I've been back at the gym for just over 3 weeks--and was back to running.
However, when I saw my MW last week she said "NO!" and explained that the ligaments that hold your uterus (you know those round ligaments that hurt so much when we were preggers....) take 4-6 months to contract back to their normal size post-birth (something about not much blood flow to ligaments?) Anyhow-- she said no running or high impact stuff for 4-6 months, otherwise you risk having a prolapsed uterus bc there is nothing to hold it in. Yikes!
This was my FIFTH baby, and nobody ever mentioned that to me before. And I know some of you were getting ready to run and train for a 5K, so just thought I'd share. She said intensity and low-impact are just fine, just no jumping/high impact stuff for a good long while.....
So back to walking and the elliptical for me.
