update appointment since car accident

had my appointment today since my car accident and stint in l&d on monday...everything is looking good. gained a pound and a half since monday. my blood pressure is finally going back to normal. 118/78, as compared to 106/58. urine came back good (still dealing with the uti though) and heartbeat stayed in the 140's as usual. haven't dilated or effaced any since monday...i can let this kiddo cook some more.

had about a 10-15 minute session on a contraction/heart monitor + records movements kind of machine, they were satisfied with that. although i wasn't really sure the purpose for that. i understand the contraction and heart monitor part of it, just kinda confused on why they wanted to track movements i felt and since they said i'd get to do this every visit from here on out, wondered what purpose movement tracking served. i know i was in a car accident but my babys movement hasn't changed since. (going to ask next visit)

finally i am measuring at about 35 weeks, and with ultrasounds done on monday, jayden measuring growth wise 2 weeks behind they told me literally they would keep me pregnant as long as they could. said the growth of jayden was good, just want him to chunk up more. and said if i am still pregnant in 3 weeks another ultrasound will be ordered. i am confident he will reach ideal weight and so happy i will be at full term on friday. on the brighter side, with the car accident and all, everything is taken care of on all aspects, medically covered, and my vehicle was taken care of too. i was afraid my health insurance wouldn't cover the medical nor my car insurance too but got phone calls today from both and they both said it would be covered 100%. what was better was just getting the call to see how i was and to let me know everything was covered completely. still no word on if my car is considered totalled and have to look for a new one.

:Lurk:

With your baby measuring behind, and your accident, I am sure you doc is just being cautious. One of the first signs of major distress is a reduction in movement. If your baby is having any sort of growth restriction (many things can cause it) its important to keep an eye on things. My DD's amniotic fluid levels were low and I had to go in for the same thing every couple of days, and US once a week till they induced me at 36 weeks and 5 days. My daughter also measured behind, but that was due to her having OI... which I also have.

Better safe than sorry, I agree.
Keep resting and eating plenty, and you'll have a good size baby before long!

The test you had is a non-stress test. It's pretty common for doctors to do if you're having any sort of complications (I had one at 31 weeks after having a ton of contractions all night). Basically it's just making sure baby is still doing okay and not stressed out in there. They're tracking to make sure the heart rate varies and looks good through any contractions you might have, as well as making sure he's moving like he should be. Like Jubilee said, better to be safe than sorry!

Glad things are looking good! I also had to share, I always take growth scans with a grain of salt. My friend's cousin was put into the hospital on strict bedrest for preterm labor for a couple of weeks, then had her labor stopped a few times. Every ultrasound they did he was weighing in under 5 lbs. When he finally hit 5 lbs, they let her labor and finally deliver him. Do you know how big he was? NINE POUNDS. Yeah, that's right, nine pounds! How they were 4 lbs. off is way beyond me. Haha.

yeah, i didn't question the test but kinda realized it musta been normal since they had two machines hooked up in the same room. i do remember my doc mentioning doing a stress test weekly while i was in l&d but to be honest she was telling me this after they had given me a strong dose of ambien...was just a tad confused on why they were done though. now i understand more, and remember a little of what they were telling me now that you guys let me know.... am feeling much better since monday. only ailment is my banged up arm and head, which the bruising is going down so not too much longer and i'll be back to normal. dh has been awesome to me, chaffeured me around, cooked me a steak dinner tonight and went to my dr's appointment with me on wednesday.

jen...i suspect the same about ultrasounds. i know this kid will come out bigger than what they say, just pray it's not over 7-8 lbs. lol. a girl who works for me had her kid a couple of months ago and was told she'd have a big 9lb baby and ended up with a 6 lb 8 oz baby, and we both go to the same doc, hmm...we'll see what mine is soon enough lol.

am going to try to work on saturday and see how i feel...have soaked up enough paid time off, and really hate to see what my store will be like after having almost a week off. that and i hate sitting in my house for too long, i can go stir crazy.

ahh luckily on my last day of antibotics. whew. lemme tell ya i've never had one before and the contractions i had the other day with the kidney pain. omg. it was hell not to be allowed to move when i was getting ultrasounds and the whole nine. everyone thought i was crazy for just wanting to get up and move around through the pain instead of lie there and take it. luckily i had to pee every ten minutes it seemed like. lol. it gave me some relief.
