"You sure there is just one in there?"

How many of you have heard this and how many of you wanted to :chairha!: :violent1: :bicycle: the person that said it to you? My BIL and MIL (separately) have made this comment to me. It might seem harmless but I think pregnancy hormones have hijacked my sense of humor about my body. Especially since my good friend told me my arms are fatter. Sad She is pregnant too so I guess she felt like it was okay to say it's happened to both of us.

For the record, I actually like my body right now. I'm a little self conscious about the weight I've gained in the rear, but otherwise, I actually like my pregnant body better than my non-pregnant body. I just don't like people critiquing me like that. I think pregnancy is beautiful and it stinks that people can't stick with being positive.

On a side note, a woman in front of me at Target turned around and said to me, "You are so adorable!". God bless that woman. I wanted to hug her.

Nobody's said anything like that to me, good or bad. I feel lucky. My husband says very little about my pregnant body except that he hopes we get "to keep" my boobs. He likes that they're quite a bit bigger...
Anyhow I bet you look totally normal for a pregnant girl as far along as you are. And I bet your arms aren't big. Smile

People really need to learn tact when it comes to saying things to a pregnant person. It's like they lose all ability to properly form a correct compliment. I've gotten a lot of "You can't be that far along"...which makes me feel like I'm too small. But overall, I could careless what someone says because utimately I feel good about where I am in this pregnancy and so does my doctor.

PS: My arse is growing faster than my belly it appears; with DD that part stayed the same. I think all the ice cream is adding up for some big ole junk in the trunk action.

:lurk: from July

Literally every other day during my first pregnancy. I don't think people realized that it really messed with my self-image, and it took me quite a while to feel good about myself again, even after having the baby and losing the baby weight.

This time, I have only heard it a couple of times. However, one of the times, I was like 13 weeks pregnant. Um, can I really look TWINS pregnant that early?

The only consolation that I have is that most of the people making those comments have either never had kids or haven't had them in years and years. For example, my mom was nagged by her doctor at every appointment not to gain more than 20 pounds, and she was verging on being underweight when she got pregnant. So older people have different ideas of weight gain than we do today!

*Lurker*

With my DD2 my manager at work told me she could see that my face was "filling out" and told me my nose had gotten real fat. I was like "Oh, wow thanks." When I told DH he laughed and said my nose was not fat and I only looked pregnant when you saw my belly.

Also when pregnant with DD2 the customers at work kept asking me "Are you SURE you're big enough? You don't look that far along. Are you SURE you don't need to gain more?" I heard it so many times I finally asked my dr at an appt and she told me I was right on track and gaining weight great.

Some people really need to learn that not all comments are welcome.

The funniest thing I encounter is one day people will be saying...wow your big...are you sure there is only one....and two days later with a different outfit and different people...they will be saying...you seem so small to be that far along? Really? Which is it...Im huge or Im small? Apparantly depending on the person...its both Smile I ignore them all! Smile

I am having the opposite. People ask me if I am sure I am pregnant when I tell them I am almost 7 months. Yep I am pretty sure after all the ultrasoubds and the fact that the baby is practicing zumba on my bladder. Maybe people just think I am always chunky big a spare tire belly

People are really stupid. That is just really true. I luckily, haven't really had any comments this time- although some people have said like, "how long do you still have to go?" That said, I honestly can't believe how big I am already with 2 months to go still... I feel like I'm already as big as I was at the end last time. Oh well. I'm with you, Kayla, though... I love my body pregnant more than any other time. I feel much better pregnant than any other time!

My mom keeps saying I'm huge and bigger than last time. My grandma is the one that keeps saying "are you sure there aren't twins in there?" But I have comparison pics and I'm about the same size. I'm carrying lower though.

I'm with Mama (Amy? I wish I could remember your name!)...you look almost exactly the same except lower. People are so weird!

Now, Mamato6, I hate to say it...but I would still like to see a belly picture of you where you actually look pregnant...because last we saw at 20 weeks or so, it didn't even look like you'd had a big lunch or anything... Got any???

i always get told, oh you can't be that far along either, but aww you look cute. i am loving what pregnancy has done for my body so far, my only complaint is i feel a little fatter in the face. (posted a pic on fb yesterday and everyone commented that my boobs now-a-days are HUGE!!! hoping i can keep some of em and only have to focus on shedding my tummy weight, otherwise i would like to keep all of the weight i've gained elsewhere.

Not with this pregnancy. I just hear people asking me, "You are that far along? You don't look it!" But, with my first pregnancy, I heard it all the time. I just kindly replied, "Nope. Just one in here. How far along are you?" It usually makes them stop talking immediately.

I got my first random, "you sure there aren't twins in there", comment yesterday - from some dude. I had to laugh because I just had my 30 week appointment and am measuring smaller. People really have no clue!
