I had my shortest waiting time ever today! Which was nice. I was out in 50 minutes.
So everything is fine and dandy. BP is 105/66, baby's HR in the 130's, my belly is measuring 38 cm, and......I lost 1.5 lbs! LOL. I had no appetite for the last couple days (after being sick one day) so that probably explains it. I was thinking that some women lose their appetite before labour, but we all know that's not the case here
My cervix is high, thick, and closed. He said if he could have got a fingertip in there he would have done a little sweep, but there ain't no action in the baby area. Which I'm used to at 38 weeks. Usually I am not dilated at all until at least 40 weeks. I've got 2 more appts booked (39.3 weeks and 40.3 weeks) and after that I guess we will see what's going on.
Hope everyone else with appts today have good ones!
Glad to hear things are looking good even if no progress!
Since you tagged onto my appointment thread last week, I'll do the same today My 38 week appt was also this morning. Up 1 lb, BP was 107/70, didn't mention baby's HB, and measured right at 38 weeks. Same as Sandra, I'm pretty much sealed up but it is also normal for me to be not progressing at this point so as much as I hoped to hear something was happening, I was expecting the answer I got. He said we'll likely be talking induction down the road based on my history - I'd love to prove him wrong
I tagged along on your post last time Ashleigh, so now I'll do it to Sandra since we seem to have appointments on the same days! It was my home visit today. HB was 125 (which seems a little low to me, but I guess it's still in normal range). BP was 111/65 - typical for me. Baby is still head down and measuring well. I've felt the baby drop a little bit, but nothing significant. And I didn't get checked since I don't really care if I'm dilated or not - I only wanted to know before my trip, now whenever labor starts is fine with me. And dilation can be so misleading anyway. And that's that! Will book an appointment to go out next week, then book my 39 week late in the week to increase my odds of not having to go in again.
I have never been checked so often. I guess this OB I am seeing now checks every week starting at 37. My old OB didn't even check til 39, or 40 if you wanted to wait til then. I know nothing is likely going on, but whatever!
I wish my OB didn't do checks until 39 weeks or so just because it's more frustrating hearing nothing is going on than not knowing, but he is old school and that's just his way of doing things. I'm sure he wouldn't if I objected but I don't feel strongly about it and it does at least satisfy my curiosity.
It is so weird how my appetite disappeared. I have never had that before. Yesterday all I ate was a small bowl of cheerios with milk, a handful of dried cranberries, a boiled egg, and a small bowl of cottage cheese. I kept thinking: I have not felt a 'hunger pang' in over 48 hours....should I still keep eating?
Sandra: my personal feeling on that is if you don't feel like eating and it isn't messing with your blood sugar levels too much (like to the point of affecting you), then don't eat! I was weighing ahead of what I did with my other 2 pregnancies with this one until about week 31 or so, then my appetite died off and I've only gained a pound here and there since. The last week, I can eat again though LOL! I liked not having an appetite better because I had less heartburn.
Jackie: I've been hungry the past few days too but miraculously only put on 1 lb in the last few weeks. Phew!
